Hello everyone! I'm another wannabe ex-smoker who, until seeing this forum, thought I knew a bit about e-cigs. It appears I know nothing Doh...I've tried 5 different e-cigs and the starter kits - got 'em all stacked up, staring at me...and all of them are not what I want and none of them do the 'job' either. I've had a quick scoot around on the forum - all looking great - but have to admit I'm a bit scared of going onto 'DIY juice' thingies - they look a bit alarming, no, terrifying - but if they work for me, then I'm up for everything and anything and I can learn...(I've still got a few little grey cells left, I think) Don't know if I should or am allowed to mention this bit here, but the main problem I have with e-cigs, is that give me terrible indigestion! I know I'm odd, so that's OK, but if anyone else said they had the same experience too, I would be soooo grateful to know that I'm not that odd! Anyway, thank you for any pointers you can give me. I will be very, very grateful and so will my husband, my son, my bank manager...and my little old lungs. They need a nice holiday now!

Welcome to you tigerlilly. You don't have to mix your own eliquid, there's no rule to say you must . . . many long term vapers don't and are perfectly content with the huge range of ready eliquid there is. It's far more important initially to have some kit that works well for you and gives you vaping satisfaction, along with some flavours you enjoy using. Try your hand at mixing when you feel ready to. What percentage of Vegetable Glycerine ( VG ) and Propylene Glycol ( PG ) are you currently using in your eliquid? You might find changing that could help the indigestion.

tigerlilly Welcome to the AAEC, it might help if we knew just what you have used to date? As to some of the stuff you have seen on here, we have a range of vapers from newbies right through to "mature" vapers. We all had to start somewhere and in my case this place would have been a godsend and saved much time and money if it had been around when I started. As to you getting indigestion from your current stuff, no doubt either the nicotine strengh is too high or the dilutent (PG / VG) mix is out of kilter for your taste. All can be resolved and plenty on here to help out. But please do remember on this forum there is no such thing as a silly question and no strangers, just friends you haven't met yet

Hi and welcome Both hubby and I found that vaping affected our bowels. For him it was only slightly and it wore off fairly quickly. For me it was a reaction to PG, which was solved by keeping the PG content in my liquids very low. Unfortunately different people react differently to different things, so you will have to experiment to find out what works for you. The good news is that you can get a battery and clearomiser and then just experiment with different juices. Try a 100%vg one and a 100% pg one and see if there is a difference in effect on you. Overly high nicotine can also upset digestion, so it is possible that that is a factor, although the other side effects of too much nicotine should be more obvious and kick in sooner. Get a decent starter kit, and then allow yourself to use a little money on SMALL bottles of different liquids until you find your comfort zone. From there on in it is easy Leave mixing until you are comfortable with the basics. Good luck

Welcome. We'll look after you. It's just so sad to read this. A good percentage of us have been through this horrible realisation. I did it with E-Lites, which rather than proving to be a realistic alternative proved to be nothing more than a fairly pointless and expensive diversion. Stupid products, crazy pricing, barely any nicotine or safisfaction. I got there in the end though, and so will you. P.S. DIY (when describing making your own liquid) is not compulsory. Nor is rebuilding atomizer heads which most people wear as a badge of honour. Learning to fill stuff is important though.

Hi tigerlilly and welcome to the forum I sometimes get indigestion from vaping, but its usually when I chain vape. I used to get it a lot worse when chain smoking though.

Hiya and to AAEC. I'm new too so best if I leave advice to the pros around the place. Fortunately, they're a great bunch who help everyone who asks.

Mixing is certainly not compulsory! But it is pretty easy and it isn't scary, honest. And it is handy if you find you want to vape pure VG (for instance), saves searching for a supplier who does your flavour that way at a decent price.

I am fairly new too. I have had loads of good help and advice, but still ask some fairly basic (stupid) questions, but the experienced members here never make you feel foolish and are SOOOoooo helpful. Stick with it. I am using basic Ego battery with a CE5 clearomiser and that suits me for the time being. Easy to change or just clean the atomizer when needed and not expensive. Am about to start some mixing this week now I have all the necessary ingredients...........will let you all know when my first mix is successful! With the ready made juices I quickly moved from any tobacco flavour which I found harsh and on to some sweeter flavours, currently Bubblegum is good for me. I found tobacco did not replicate a real cigarette and the sweeter flavours were a different experience altogether. So be prepared to change flavours until you find one which suits. Good luck.
