If you want your final mix to be 18mg nicotine strength, you would include 2.5 ml of the 72mg nic base in your 10ml mix ie: dilute the 72mg to 1/4 to give 18mg
If you were to use 54mg nic base you would need to include 3.3ml in your 10ml mix ie: dilute the 54mg to 1/3 to give 18mg.
Your 72mg nic base would therefore go further as you are using less each time to achieve a final 18mg strength

I do wish you hadnt started thread newdawn !!! for the entire 5 weeks of me vaping I've mantra chanted 'dont be expecting me to start mixing and/or coiling! its so not going to happen' and now I'm wondering.....surely its not so complex (for simple flavours) surely its basic maths and follow instructions and then you could experiment! and save money and alter mix strength! and....I must be mad to even consider .... But think of all the advice we could get along the way of learning how to.....

But think of all the advice we could get along the way of learning how to..... And the fun when you actually do Pepperty . . . start simple, Tjuice concentrates are ideal as they've done all the flavour blending for us: t-juice.com/pure-flavours.htmlHave a practise with a calculator: ejuice.breaktru.com/Though that isn't compatible with Ipads/Macs, but this one is: dot1ml.com/Having said that, I'd been vaping a year before I even considered home mixing, but there wasn't the selection or the advice so readily available then.

tbh the only ejuice I've experienced so far is joosejuice and I like 4-5 of Jim's flavours LOTS, he sells concentrate and I keep wondering....hmmm, wouldn't it be cheaper to make up my own? Must admit I'm a bit useless at maths and I get mixed up easily between inches and centimeters ...let alone other measurements but I've a maths wizz of a son who could do with a hobby... seems a shame to waste his genius ..I've already d/l 'ejuice me up' app for starters

OK, so 72mg makes most sense because you get more bang for your buck than 54mg. But what about PG nic vs VG nic? I want to start mixing juice 50/50 or 60/40 at first. Is it just a case of entering the nic type (VG or PG 72mg), 18mg strength I'd like to reach in the end, PG/VG percent I'd like as well as flavours and the calculator works out the amounts to get there regardless of which nic base I buy? Really do appreciate your help and apologies for all the basic questions. Don't worry Pepperty, we'll get there eventually and it'll all seem so simple in a couple of weeks...probably.

Essentially yes newdawn . . . the calculator does all the work for you. Remembering that the vast majority of flavourings will be suspended in PG when you make the calculation.

And no variation in quality between those two types of nic base I linked at the start? Don't want to get mediocre stuff starting out and wasn't sure if nic base varies like custard flavours and the like vary.

PG nic base is a bit easier to work with as it is not as gloopy as VG.
The ejuice me up calculator that Perps has linked to is the one that I use .....
Enter the strength of your nic base and the PG/VG ratio of it .... I enter 72mg and 100% PG Enter the final mix strenght you want ..... I enter 18mg Enter the quantity you want to make ..... I enter 10 or 30 mls Water/vodka ..... I leave at zero Flavours ...... Most flavours are 100% PG ... enter the % of each of your flavour concentrates Target PG and target VG ...... enter the PG/VG ratio that you want from your mix
click on calculate at the bottom and the quantities of nic base, flavours, PG dilutent and VG dilutent will be calculated for you

newdawnIf you want to have VG heavy mixes (>40% VG) you're better off with VG nic base as most flavourings are PG based and you may fing if you use a PG nic base you cannot get much below 40% VG.

Excellent. And no variation in quality between those two types of nic base I linked at the start? Don't want to get mediocre stuff starting out and wasn't sure if nic base varies like custard flavours and the like vary. They're both good Vendors to deal with for DIY supplies, so I'd buy from either very happily . . . although my personal preference is for VG base as I've a sensitivity to PG, so the only PG element in my brews are the flavours, which I can cope with. But if you've no strong preference either way, I'd probably go for the best deal newdawn.

no, I'm similar to newdawn in my nic strength and mix (so I'll hang on grimly to her coat-tails ) 60/40 and 18nic is about right for me if I don't accidentally poison myself first losing a decimal point
