Hi Peeps.
Not scaremongering, but this could actually happen.
item "e" from propsal: "e) any form of public or private contribution to any event, activity or individual with the aim or direct or indirect effect of promoting electronic cigarettes and involving or taking place in several Member States or otherwise having cross-border effects is prohibited;"
Means closure of AAEC as we have come to love this forum.
Get signing, get in touch with your MEP & MP, don`t sit on your arses and do nothing.
PLEASE !!!!!

Just make it a private forum Or better yet fight to keep our rights to our lives as they are including talking about vaping as well as doing it. Everyone should write to their MP and let their feelings be known on the subject.

Is there any templates for letters out there we could use and add our own words so to speak?

I think the best bet is just to say what vaping has done for you and family/ friends. They can pick holes in scientific stuff and statistics but they can't argue against real personal experiences.
The more letters the MPs get saying "This is how e-cigs have changed my life" the harder they find it to ignore those and capitulate to what the powers that be want.
End of the day we are human beings with lives and we want those lives to be as long and as productive as possible, they want the same so the personal letters prove their choices affect real people.

There is a touch of scorched earth to that element, Not just ban them but erase them from history seems to be the viewpoint.

Please don't call it a law. It's a draft for the Council stage of a proposed directive which, if it became a directive would prompt a national law.

I've never heard of anything so ridiculous. We can't even talk about vaping What happened to 'freedom of speech' ??? We're supposed to be living in a democratic and free society. Who are they to tell anyone what we can or can't talk about. That is just going above and beyond. Surely that wouldn't be passed. They'd be segregating everyone, so that we could not form any type of group to go against them in the future. Smells of dictatorship, nah, stinks of dictatorship

I think most are missing the point here They start taking about absolute ban just to scare the masses so they will eventually except ( what ever the eu wanted in the first place i.e Medicalisation? or higher taxes) & the masses will think they have won & goverments get what they wanted in the first place
.
Sorry but this proves to me yet again they do not give a F**K about lives its just money pure & simple. They want us to keep smoking pay taxes & DIE as quick as possible to stop you being a burden to the state

Not my words for contacting MEP`s & MP`s those of Clive Bates. What you can do… You should urgently communicate your view on this to as many decisions makers as you can, in measured tones and as quickly as possible. These are the issues to raise (but you should use your own words and ideas and tell them how it will affect you directly) 1. Say what you don’t like about the Commission’s extensive and confidential proposals and especially how it will affect you personally or professionally. Define your own ‘red lines’ (things that shouldn’t or should be done). Mine would be on refillables, flavours, advertising, nicotine strength and content. 2. Say what you think might be a better approach. I will be suggesting there are some quality standards for liquids and devices, some modest restrictions on advertising (like alcohol, for example), some tests and other information about the product to be disclosed, and application and enforcement of all the 17 directives that already exist and apply. Regulators should take a sensible proportionate approach and not wrap e-cigs in miles of red tape and restrictions. 3. Suggest that some regulation is probably necessary and may be beneficial if it increases consumer confidence, but that the Commission’s ideas are overkill. New proposed EU regulation should be prepared with proper openness and transparency, a proper evidence base (no made-up or unfounded accusations), a credible justification, an impact assessment that shows risk benefits and unintended consequences of regulation and, above all, full consultation. It’s about time that vapers were given a formal say, and not just ignored and marginalised. Who to contact… please be polite, concise and constructive! 1. Your MP [via . Ask them to (1) contact Jane Ellison MP, Minister for Public Health to put your views across or (2) contact colleagues on the European Scrutiny Committee to demand that this is scrutinised properly. 2. Your MEPs [via . Below my suggestion: Use your own words describing your personal situation. A template is not the right way to go. Just do it peeps. Thank you.
