Newbie mixing hysterics

I finally sat down and decided to try some mixing today - for the 1st time. I've done my reading up, I've bought all the right gear and still dithered.....
So I prepped my table, lay out all my gear, booted up pc ... to find that eliquid recipies site was down   Gutted! I'd signed up, added my ingredients and was primed and ready. Worry not I thought, I've still got "ejuice me up" programme loaded on my pc and I'm only planning to use T-Juice concentrates and I already know its 15% flavouring so, sorted!

I keyed in my request ( about 8 times...just in case) All seemed to tally, there was my card stating amount in mls of nicotine base, pg, vg and flavouring so I wrote it on notepad and sat at desk to prep, still doubting myself. 

With my empty 10ml  bottle blue-tacked to table I started, couldn't get on with the blunt guage needles but had wide necked bottles so I syringed straight from nicotine based table my just under 3ml's. 1st problem, the plunger base...I wasn't sure if the top or bottom of rubber bung was correct reading so I may be out by .2ml   ??? 

I then diligently washed out syringe ( I knew those shot glasses would come in handy for something one day  ) Carefully put cap back on bottle and realised I had NO protective gloves on !! will I die from nicotine poisoning? shoved bottle back in cupboard and scrubs my hands like a theatre nurse shaking life a leaf, how could I forget such an logical safety aspect ....fretting in case I scratched my eyelid or wiped corner of my mouth or, god forbid, licked my lips  

Right then, too late to fret now and all my other stuff is safe enough surely? so I continue, now faffing about with new syringe and same bung issue of which reading, but not to worry its near enough... pg in, vg in, then last step, flavour of 1.5ml.

Ah! there I hit a snag, its got a needle top on bottle and I cant get the damn thing off for trying   So emergency step two, I see that there is a 'dropper option' 1.5ml should equate to 30 drops ( I bloody well hope so) so 30 drops it is......

Needle topper on, lid on, shake like a mad-un and cleaned table up. I'm a quivering wreck, I could do with a stiff drink or even a fag after that!!   I'm not entirely sure I've done it right.....but I suppose I'll find out in a couple of days when I give it a taste test on my driptip thingie

First thing.. DON'T panic! I don't use gloves. I did 90 mls all PG. So did 90 mls VG and just mixed them up.
Measure level is bottom of plunger thingy.
Well done for first mix. It gets fun from here!

I don't advocate this but I don't wear gloves when I mix, although am very careful and if spillage occurs, a quick swill should be ok - I'm still alive :-)

The trick I find with syringes is to pull some air in to the syringe so you can properly see where the liquid comes p to on the gauge.

Yes yes Carpe Vapor Its back, I'm now browsing it I may need a few more days before I crack back onto mixing again. My daughter arrived as I was mid way through and started frying bacon and nattering to me, I told her to shush and then her dad came in and they stood taking the mickey out of me, and my 'chemists shop' Next time I'll make sure the kids are out at school and mans at work! (and dogs locked in front room)

I mixed my first juice today too. A nice simple Tobac (tobacco) mix just to ease into this new territory
Like Carpe Noctem I found it easiest to leave a little air in the syringe to see the liquid level better.
Thought I might have had a prob getting the VG up the 18gauge needle but it was ok, a little slow but no problem.

Oh!! .. and I forgot to put on gloves too (so many things whirling through my head), but as I was working next to the kitchen sink I was'nt to worried about spills.

All in all it went well. Keep at it Pep, the more you do it the comfortable you'll get with it

Pepperty ... I don't want to add to your fretting but the 20 drops = 1ml is generally for the glass bottles that come with a separate glass dropper (USA style) .... the generally accepted equation for the normal plastic dropper bottles that we have is 30 drops = 1ml .... you might need to add another 15 drops to your mix

Still a bit concerned about flavouring amounts. "EJuice Me Up" said 1.5ml flavouring (to get 15% of my mix) and because I couldn't get needle tip off concentrate bottle I went with the other reading of 30 drips (20 drips equaling 1ml) Hope that's correct

Thats what I was suspecting!  but on a good note, UNDER is better than over, the drips were rather mini so I can easily add in 15 more 

Also, I notice that 'ejuice me up' has a section (top right) it ways [in box] 20 drops equals 1ml, so I can alter to 30 can I if I was dripping flavour in? (do I assume that that programme is american)

Hi Pep, well done on your first mix! It's a great feeling isn't it? Wait till you start vaping it and you realise it tastes great and actually works ! Brill feeling

Now then for the bit that's gonna make you miffed. Tjuice bottles are 50-55 drops per ml so for 15% you want 75-80 drops.

I checked this because 4 weeks ago when I noticed how small the drops from tjuice drippers are, I counted out into a syringe to check the number of drops per ml. And five minutes ago, just to be certain I checked again.

I used our favourite Afro Dizziac because I don't mind washing that down the sink but it's the same for the others.

but I cant count UP correctly THAT high bloomin' 'eck, so I've 30 in, so I need to add another 45 per bottle!!! wow, good job you are on the ball (no way I'll be mixing higher than 10mls, not unless i can get the damn lid off )

Push your thumbnail between the rim of the dripper and the bottleneck Pep, they come off ok once you've cracked the gap a little.

Look at the state of my vape cupboard?! Its expanding dangerously, Ive had to order more storage racks (from China at £3 a pop) and will have to slot them in sideways   for unopened bottles



Concentrates and mixing gear to the right, vapeable juice and coil/gear to left! There IS a system to my madness .....

Another no glover here, but the one thing is Pepperty, don't panic & very well done on your first mixing session, also to tominmids.

You'll be more relaxed next time, Pep & if you're doing a lot of counting, defo make sure you're solo.

On another good note, just had a 'friend of a friend' call to buy 10x packs of Turner tobacco I'd bought from duty free when I went on holiday recently, ( and then I went and quit! ) so £70 in my hand....so that's my vaping costs covered nicely

Hopefully he'll want more so I can get rid of my tobacco stash and fund next years vaping too!
