Not one hour ago a lovely spool of 0.25mm kanthal A1 turned up for me to play with. As a bonus I ordered 10m and they gave me 50m, great bunch of guys. Already have a dual microcoil setup running at the same 1 ohm I had before but much greater vapour since the coils are so much longer than when using 0.2mm. I shall now be reducing the number of turns to find out what tolerance my throat and lips have for the sub ohm levels just as some experimentation. Then probably on to all the fancy layout coils no doubt. Since the dripper I have currently is very cheap (VH Reflow) I am going to invest in an IGO-L most likely as a decent low cost device with decent build quality.

Sounds like many happy hours are ahead of you, Don't forget to have something else to hand to steady your nerves as you go. It never helps to rush a build just because you need it to vape on NOW!

Welcome to the cult of the microcoil.
Do you have a DZ/Greigster coil jig?
Have fun I

Nope, all coils built by old fashioned, hand crafted methods. Now been and done dual microcoils coming out at 0.6 ohm. 30 ish watts is quite warm, plenty of vapour & flavour, still not much TH for me (but I was a heavy cigar smoker for quite a few years and have a very hardened throat).

Small setback on my microcoil experiments. The VH Reflow has a design flaw making it not suitable for sub-ohm testing. The atty has a sprung centre post on the battery connection. The spring they have in it is thinner than the springs you'd get in a clicky pen. After an pleasant evening hammering it at 30ish watts the atty stopped firing and it turns out it was because the heat made the spring collapse (not a short, just the raw power). I then redesigned it to get it working again but ordered an IGO-L for my more long term use.

I must also now report a microcoil being installed on my trusty Aga-T2 on SS rope and mesh. Beautiful flavour and vapour and should last really well.

I have just ordered some 0.34mm Kanthal A1 to have a play with too. I know the thicker wire might be a slight pain to work with but I reckon durability and the ability to build long microcoils could be worth the effort.

I've an igo-w on order. It's a dripper, with 3 posts each with a wire hole, like the one RiP 'Off my Tits' Tripper used to wire up a diamond coil... if I can construct one with my hamfisted techniques, anyone can.

Yes I know of the IGO-W but went for the L because the chamber is shorter hence better vapour flow as it were. It is just as wide so will accommodate the fancier coil configurations.
I may well get a W at some point too though.
My dual microcoils work very well but need the sturdier built dripper to go sub ohm with. Either of the IGO's fit the bill but I found the L on sale. Also I probably not going to be using the IGO wire holes on the posts as I find for more complex builds just using the screws to clamp much easier but that's just me.

So now I got hold of 0.34mm Kanthal A1. 12 wraps is just the right length on my Aga-T2 with some cotton to make an auto dripper. Lovely 1.8 ohm coil suitable on my eVic and very cloud making due to the length of coil.
Later I shall try dual microcoils in the IGO-L as well and get some long coil sub ohm action going.

How are you finding the 34mm vereybowring? My 28 gets very brittle - seem to lose half my coils. And I'd expect the 34 to be worse?

I've had no problems with the 0.34mm. Doesn't seem to get brittle and when microcoiled seems stable and hard wearing. Of course until I've used it for a few weeks I won't really know the long term usage issues but so far it's all good. The only issue is the wire is thick and while not springy like the thinner wire it does mean getting the knack of coiling neatly. Luckily I have very strong fingers and good motor control so manual coiling is fine for me.
The IGO-L is now dual microcoiled metering out as 0.6 ohm with cotton wicks and is a steam machine. Didn't like the flavour on the Aga using the cotton wick as an autodripper though so rebuilt it as a 1.5 ohm macrocoil ? (2mm) with ss rope and mesh and the flavour is immense and is another if not quite so strong steam machine.
In the new year I have one of the tobeca Kayfun Lite clones coming so I now have an idea of what I want to try in it. If it all works out apart from maybe another dripper and kayfun I am kinda set as far as rebuildables go. Would love some of the real items and some of the other expensive rebuildables to mess with but sadly ESA doesn't stretch very far. Cost is my primary driving force so unless they get me an effective long term treatment for my medical problems, and I can get back to work without having a breakdown, I will have to keep buying to a minimum.

You might want to try some ribbon wire on the Aga-T2 with SS rope & meash, vereybowring. More coil/wick interface, more vapour, more flavour. That combination changed my mind about the device completely.

Maybe I can solve it by getting better at bending the tails into the right shape before heating.
