So come on peeps. What is your favourite food you eat at Christmas that you don't really have much of the rest of the year. The usual stuff like Turkey (which I hate), Christmas pudding (which I hate) and mince pies are the usual things, but do you have anything different? Or have a fabulous recipe for something you love? Mine is quite simple really. I love MArks and Spencer's chocolate cherry liqueurs. They cost less than £3 and are available all year but I only have them at Christmas!

Best thing I ever had a xmas was when friends got their organically raised pigs slaughtered and gave me a big chunk of itchy or scratchy, roasted that and ate the lot. I was stuffed but very happy lol

Massive vote for pigs in blankets here too, totally love them, xmas lunch isnt right without them, done nice and crispy is best Baileys Irish cream, again xmas isnt xmas without lashings of this, love it! Sprouts with chestnuts, I love sprouts anytime but with chestnuts at xmas they are yummy. Fresh cream, mmmmmm. Clotted double or single, with everything.....on xmas pud, on trifle, on choc pud, on mince pies, and in coffee. God I love xmas!!

My version to cook a good roast potato is: Quality potatoes Peel Boil in salted water until done Empty water but not the potatoes and cook for another 2-3mins to take all water out of the potatoes and give a decent bash too fluff them up Put into a hot pan of lard Cook until golden only turning once Remove fat from pan but leave potatoes in there and sprinkle some sea salt on top of the potatoes Cook until even more golden brown Yom Yom p.s Nigel Slaters recipe not mine

I like everything on the list so far apart from ginger beer and satsumas. I even like sprouts!
I watched an interesting doco last night about how supermarkets deal with supplying Christmas food, and they did a bit about sprouts. According to this scientist, the fact that some people hate sprouts and others like them is all down to our genes. Some people have a gene that makes the chemicals in sprouts taste bitter, but some of us don't have it. Yes, a completely useless piece of information but I found it interesting!!
