I don't seem to be getting the "hit" I am used to, from using my Nemesis with a kick, as compared to a VW mod.....at present, I have a KFL coiled to 2.2ohms, with the kick set to about 8-8.5 watts, with a fully charged battery & the hit & vapour just doesn't compare.......Is this normal?.....the kick, by the way, is a evolve 1.

If you rewound your coil to 1.6ohms then you wouldn't need the kick.

Well, with the KFL they can't affect the airflow, so I'd say that if the same atty with the same watts settings vapes differently then one of the devices isn't delivering the watts that it says it is.

I'm with markm on this, wind a coil to much lower ohms and forget the kick,I have a KFL on a Poldiac @ 1.4 ohms and a 1.0 ohm dual coil on a iThaka on the just GG,never felt the need for a kick

chrisjw, Why are you coiling so high out of interest? Try going for around 1.2ohms.. That'll give you a kick!!

If you rewound your coil to 1.6ohms then you wouldn't need the kick. The flaw to that statement for me is that on a freshly charged battery chucking out 4.2v through a 1.6ohm coil you get an 11w vape, I and many others only vape at 8w and many more vape at a lower power. 11w is far to strong for my throat. Then there's the voltage drop, I cannot be done with voltage drop, I much prefer consistency. The kick for me is a perfect drop in module that allows me to use any of my mech mods with regulated power.

A freshly charged battery through 2.2ohms is around 8w Yeah, that's what I assumed......the kick is set to 8-8.5 watts, but the difference in vape if I put the KFL on an e-vic at the same wattage is quite noticeable.

If you were getting all 4.2volts at your coil the that wouldbe correct. But voltage drop under load is a significant factor. It grows exponentially as resistance is reduced. A quality mod is around .2v drop on 1.5ohm coil and a fresh, new battery.
I like .5ohm setups and the measured Voltage drop is high enough to reduce the watts I am actually running at, from a theoretical 35w, to below 30w.
Running a high power is all about having a wick setup that feeds the juice fast enough. My wicks flood at anything much below 23w, long before my batteries would be considered Low on most setups.

That's the point of the kick, to negate all of the above regarding voltage drop for most vapers

And that's just it, I fully understand the mechanics of juice flow vs power at the coil vs voltage drop under load but in the same way that I never liked high strength cigarettes I don't like over powerful vaping, I've played around with sub ohm and low ohm and for the juice that I vape I found that the best power vs ohms ratio is around 2ohms at 4v. Cocomel for me performs best at that setting. Also I find that with the juice that I'm vaping using mesh or cotton wicks strips the body from the flavour and leaves you with a sterile/clean taste which I cannot get along with, menthol juice aside. My point being is that an unregulated set up works for you and the juice you vape and that doesn't mean that the kick is a redundant tool for everybody else that may have different requirements. Personally, once I detect voltage drop as the battery starts to drain I start to hold that button down a bit longer trying to find the same vape level that I started with and I vape more and more frequently trying to feel satisfied With a kick I have no such problems and I know that the first vape will mirror the last
