Breaking Bad - DVD or Bluray?

I'm probably the only person in the world that hasn't watched it so now the series has finished it's time to buy the complete boxset for a marathon.

Question is do I get the DVD boxset, probably off the shelf in a supermarket for £50 or pay out the extra £26 for the HD Bluray boxset and wait the few days for the Amazon delivery?

DVD quality is terribad but £26 is a quite a lot to pay for the same thing in HD :/
Why are Blurays soooo much more expensive than DVDs and then the 3D Blurays even more expensive than that!

BR all day long. I NEVER buy a DVD anymore unless its a comedy DVD that isn't available on BR.

That being said, I'd personally "shiver me timbers" a tv series first, then decide if I wanted to go out and spend £76 sheet on it. But then that's me. I know many people who would DL it then never buy it, regardless of whether they liked it or not.

EDIT: Yes, I have never seen it either. So have gone through the same conundrum, and came to the conclusion mentioned above.

I haven't seen that at all. In fact I haven't got a dvd player or a BR.

Torrent-----> USB-------->Smart TV surround in 5.1

But of course I only view non copyright stuff. I do like the old comedies too, the classics. They just don't make em like it anymore.

I agree.  Hence why I DL'd HD with 5.1 surround.

Things have moved on mate, not everything is videod with a cameraphone off a CRT telly...

As @zero said above, HD torrent to USB to Smart TV (or xbox in my case).

Yes, most torrents are 720, but if you look around, you can get them with 1080p AC3 5.1 surround.  They come in around 2 GB per episode rather than 1.3 GB for 720p.

To be honest though, if that's what you want, buy the BR.  But what I'm saying is £76 is a LOT of money if you don't like it.  I would download the first 4-5 episodes of season 1 at 720p to see if you like it first.  You'll be able to tell pretty quick if you want to fork out that much coin to watch the rest in full HD.  Then at least you'll get to watch the rest in FHD if you like it that much.

Anyway, the difference between good quality 720p and 1080p is almost indistinguishable on most sets, at most distances.  Same with HD Audio over AC3.  You'd need a really good set-up for that (£1000+ amp and same again at least on speakers.  No Currys crap...).  But I assume you know that if your asking the question.

On my TV there is a noticeable difference between the SkyHD 720 upscale and 1080p and I have a Sony HD reciever with B&W 5.1 setup so as long as the neighbour is out I can flex the system's legs
If the neighbour is in I can still watch Blurays but just have to deal with the fallout the next day lol
I'm a big fan of the real deal HD picture and audio the best I can get.
Even though paying more for Blurays and 3D does annoy me as I doubt it costs much more to produce than DVD but they can charge a premium.

Edit: Decided to go for the BD copy, the DVD would just annoy me while watching it, knowing I should have spunked up the extra cash for 1080.

I did.
Amazon is cheaper, Play are doing the BD set for £84.
