This is the third Vamo Box mod I have made, but I have changed the methodology from the previous ones. Where before I "built" a box, this one is machined from a single piece of African Hardwood. Vamo V2 board, single 18650 battery, Stainless 510 connector, waxed finish, side cheek held with 4 x 3mm magnets and is rock solid. Looking for some really interesting hardwood for the next one, (which I plan to keep for myself).

That looks fab Jim, well done for the lovely craftsmanship.
What did you use to hollow out the box?

Great piece of work there jim , would you use your thumb or a finger to use that one ?
Ive been keeping my eyes open for a good vw box mod here in the uk but with no luck so far,im not into the tins and coke can stuff myself so it narrows the search down alot.Cant beat wood for class.

Really like that, well done. Do you use the 'guts' out of a vamo then if I'm reading right? And the side panel is held in by magnets, great idea!

Ok in answer to the couple of questions.........
a). I'm a locksmith by trade, and treated myself to a new toy a couple of months ago. I bought a mini "milling machine". Most of the body was cut out using the machine. The lid was a slice of the timber, cut by the timber merchant. Obviously there was a certain amount of hand cutting, but the laborious stuff was on the milling machine.
b). I find myself firing it by finger. Holding the buttons away from me most of the time. Will try and get the PCB a little higher next time but the Vamo board is so bulky (2 boards piggy backed), you need a little room to run wires.
c). Yes, this one has the guts from an old MK2 Vamo, made the face plate for the board in 1.5mm stainless, with the board araldited to side cheeks and then araldited to the face plate. The box is rebated for the board to fit into and then held by small magnets.
Thanks for the comments.

Jim if you can turn somethink like that out if i was you id treat myself to a dna20 chip . Maybe give you that extra room you need for the thumb fire button and a touch smaller for the hand.btw jim would it be possible to use a zmax board in them ?

I must be going mad, just spent last two hours reading through 'making a Mod' type stuff...... and I've decided best left to people with more skill than me lol.

excellent Jim, would be nice to see the insides too from a tinkerers point of view.
I am also on the lookout for a small milling machine, which did you end up going with ?

Lovely bit of work Jim ... I would be fine with the woodwork but the electrics and metal work would be my downfall.
