Hey, Wanting to try out some different tanks I bought some of those Evods but for some reason I'm not getting a throat hit when using them. I get lots of vapour but no hit, my juice is fine because when I use it in my CE4/5's I get a perfect hit of nicotine, but I'm just not getting it with these Evod ones. Could it be my battery because I'm using a standard ego one that came with my starter kit? I did try holding my finger over one of the air holes on its base and that did give me a very slight throat hit but still nothing like it should be doing. Please help

Nope they don't give any throat hit for me either . . . which is why I like them amygx, bottom coils are always a softer, more gentle vape than something with a top coil. You could try a lower resistance head maybe, to see if that helps.

I have the same problem with evods amygx I've tried sellotape over an air hole but they are just too airy for me, shame as I like the simple design, easy to recoil, a mini protank however with a microcoil and cotton wool is my vape of choice at the mo, you would think they were essentially the same but they're not. tried them with lower resistance coils Perpetua which I thought would cure it but no, 1.8ohms in a mini protank however add a little red astaire mmmmmm

But people recommended that I get them. Everyone who suggested I get an Evod..go spend 3 minutes on the naughty step! lol So a mini protank would be the best upgrade from 4/5's? and give a good throat hit? I also like the design of the evods, its a shame they're not working like I thought they would

As has been said the bottom coil design means you get a cool smooth vape that many people like.
I have Evods and Mini Protank and they use the same head, apart from a slight difference in draw I find them very similar in use.

I loved my evods when I first started vaping. Still got a few but haven't used one in months. Loving my Aspire BDC's just now.
There is nothing wrong with evods, and those who recommended them obviously liked them, so have no case to answer really. It's just that they don't work for you, that's all.
I would recommend trying the ce4/5 aspire BDC, as I really like the dual bottom coil vape I get off them. But then again, it might not be for you.
If you ask for opinions, you will get peoples personal opinions. They may, or may not be right for you though. It's really up to you to decide what you like, and research what devices might work your your preferred vape.
but if it's the cooler bottom coil hit you don't like, then maybe a mini pro tank won't be any better. Maybe an iclear16 would work better for you?

amygxOK so BCC is a cooler vape, just put them to one side until you decide to take your next step in vaping. Normally folks will progress to VV in time. Then load up an Evod and crank your voltage up Ithink you might be pleasantly supprised. BTW It's the PG in the juice that is the main cause of Throat hit.

There are various factors involved in producing throat hit: Power: The higher your wattage, the more throat hit. If you have a vv rather than vw device, you can achieve the same result by increasing the voltage on the device or reducing the resistance of your atty / clearo. Nicotine strength: The higher the nicotine content of your juice, the more throat hit you get, so if you're not getting enough you might want to buy a stronger juice. PG vs VG: Juices with a higher PG content tend to produce more throat hit, whereas VG heavy juices give less throat hit but more vapour. Bottom coil vs top coil: Bottom coil clearos like the evod and protank tend to produce cooler vapour with less throat hit. Top coil clearos like iclears and vivi novas tend to produce warmer vapour with more throat hit. To get the right level of throat hit for you, it's worth experimenting until you get the right balance between these various factors. I hope this helps.

Maybe an iclear16 would work better for you? That's the one I use with the svd, the aspire one and man, I get a hell of a throat hit using it with hangsen RY4, maybe even a tad to much lol. I tried it on my ladies new evod and it still gives a nice throat hit, it's actually pretty nice on the evod. Maybe it's the PG/VG mix in the juices, the stuff I mixed myself has a reasonably high VG content and is very smooth, I bought the 72mg PG nic base so need a decent amount of VG to get the right sort of strength. Ps yeh I know it's a bit late but figured I stick it up anyway

But people recommended that I get them. Everyone who suggested I get an Evod..go spend 3 minutes on the naughty step! lol A lot of people do like evods, and I don't think we all have variable voltage and/or recoil them to boost the vape. But I confess I do both, and I use high PG juices, so throat hit is less of a problem. I'd suggest an iclear16, but also maybe try higher PG % juices. (if that doesn't work, vv & then microcoil with cotton wool...). The mini protank is pretty, and useful when you have tank-cracking juices, but the vape is pretty much the same as an evod, and personally I am less happy about carrying it about in my jeans pocket.

Simple really, as has been stated a couple of times before, an evod is a bottom coil clearo and the vapour will be cooler but the main throat hit comes from the ratio of PG/VG a higher % PG more throat hit less vapour and a higher % VG less throat hit more vapour, thing is if you use a higher ratio PG juice lets say for example 80% pg 20% vg the throat hit would be increased but a possible disadvantage would be flooding as a bottom coil design does not really like thinner liquids. you should get a decent throat hit with an evod using a 60/40 ratio of 14-18mg juice, hope i have not confused you too much amygx
