Not my cup of tea to be honest.A very good idea if you like a gold finish though, saves paying a plater a fortune to do the job

Love a bit of Mod Bling myself . . . but I can see me getting in a hellava mess doing it myself . . . there'd be gold plate everywhere, but where it was intended.

I bought more or less the same Electroplating Kit that Scott has from a very good UK Company and it enables plating using, Gold, Silver, Nickel, Copper, Platinum, Rhodium...
Kit is a bit on the expensive side, at around £400.00 but they do some cheaper versions as well.
Can be a bit tricky at the start but the results so far are very good...
Will post a few photos of plating successes...
Later...

400 quid No way on this earth would i waste that amount of money to change the colour of an e-cig.I presumed the kit would be cheaper than that, some folks have more money than sense.

Thing is Ian loads of people like a bit oh bling just to be different .Now if any of these lads were to offer a service once they get up to speed then im sure loads of folks would be more than willing to pay to have mods plated and then you could recover the cost of the kit .I bet 99.9% of e cig puffers would say that you would be mad to spend £170 on a Provari /Darwin .

A very good point mate,i didnt think of it that way.If you can indeed get good at plating and offer a service to others to get some money back then fair play.I was just shocked that it costs £400 for the kit, thats three or four high end mods or enough money to buy enough juice and cartos to last for years.

In fairness Ian - you can get a cheaper kit that comes in at around the £200.00 mark and I am sure there are even cheaper than that to be had. I think the main problem is that some of the Plating Solutions like the Gold, Platinum, Silver and Rhodium are SO expensive...My kit came with 100ml of the Gold Solution - a Litre of this costs £430.00...!!! With a bit of practice I believe that anyone could offer this as a viable service but I certainly have not reached that point yet! I Gold Plated my CUBE (see photo) as my first attempt. Since the CUBE was already in a highly reflective Stainless Steel, it made the plating process much easier. In short:- 1. Clean the CUBE using neat washing-up liquid.(Using Latex Gloves to avoid contamination of the cleaned surface) 2. Activate the parts needing plated - in this case the casing, top atomiser cap, bottom battery cap and button. (Again using Latex Gloves.) 3. Electo-plate using Gold Solution at 9.0v using a swab 4. Polish... In all it took me about 60 minutes to complete the process and for a first attempt I am very pleased. For all those wanting more info about the equipment used the link is here... Gold SolutionsAnd their E-Bay shop can be found here: Gold Solutions EBay ShopAdmittedly the kit I purchased was fairly expensive at £409.00 (see below) but came with a Desk-Mounted electrical buffer and solutions to plate using Chrome, Nickel, Copper, and 24K Gold. I also purchased additional Solutions to allow me to plate using: Silver, Rhodium and Platinum. The Company are very helpful, the equipment is of a very high quality and delivery was quick. All-in-all, a bit of fun! Later...

WOW,thats some serious kit mate.I must admit you have done a lovely job of plating the cube and it looks very smart, fair play to you. I was just shocked at how much the kit cost. When you see what you get for your money it does actually look very good value.Great work mate, love that cube mod so much.
