Careful Jason, you're heading very speedily towards being commissioned to make a DNA 30 for blakey who really can't be assed to do it himself even though he is quite capable Just been looking now at making 10 of them as Evolv do a pack of ten DNA30's at a much better price of buying from the UK But this time the mod will have a choice of different colors, prefer to use alloy wheel spray as it is tough as nails but limited on colors You can definitely put me down for 1 if you decide to go ahead with this batch

Well done Super-Shiny, that has the look of a professionally finished mod. You should be very proud of yourself my friend! If I were into that sort of mod, I would have my name on the list too, but in the forum's interest I will step aside to allow someone else snaffle a great looking bit of kit instead.

Well i have had a good old think about making the mod for others and my conclusion was no for the following reasons: When making a mod you are meant to enjoy it and with this one i did not, if i had hair i don't think i would have it now as this mod was just a nightmare, started off well but when it came to getting it all into the box that is when things started to get frustrating, i knew at that point i bit off more than i could chew but yes i did get there in the end but the thought of going through all that again sends shivers down my spine. But i am willing to make some with the exact same layout but a few changes: Evolv DNA20 or if i can get my hands on one DNA30 (think the DNA30 is the same price as the DNA20) Evolv USB (same) Large firing button (same) Transparent screen frame (color change) Evolv USB (same) Airflow control (same) 200g force Tactile switches (same) Silver alloy wheel coating (same) - i prefer to use this as it's very hard wearing and chip free, plus it has lacquer already in the spray for that extra toughness, only problem is the lack of color range. Now the tough part, i have been looking for endless hours for a box that is slightly bigger, the main reason for the nightmare for the mod i made was not so much the height or depth, it was the width of it so i have searched and searched and there is nothing close to it, they jump in size dramatically. The internal mod size i made was: Height 85.16mm - Width 31.16mm - Depth 26mm : www.hammondmfg.com/pdf/1550A.pdfThe only one that is slightly better is: Height 89.10mm - Width 33.70mm - Depth 27.40mm : www.hammondmfg.com/pdf/1590A.pdfThe little extra MM in height and depth is a blessing but the lack of extra MM in width (just a extra around 3mm) is not so good, i need at least 8mm to make this mod more enjoyable and easy to make. So i searched again and found: Height 96.20mm - Width 45.23mm - Depth 21mm : www.hammondmfg.com/pdf/1590G.pdfWith this the height and width is a blessing but the depth is not, yes the mod will be taller in height and wider in width but at the same time quite thin........that's where a problem lies. A 18650 battery is about 18mm in height (not including the case it goes in)....the battery holder is 21.8mm in height (can fix this with some fine filing so not a problem).....but it's how the large firing button might look, it's about 16mm in width and the box is 21mm in width........will this look silly i don't know, maybe instead of a large firing button use all small tactile buttons? You still with me As you can see i am in a predicament on the size of the perfect box, here are some of the sizes i have to mess around with: 1550 series: www.hammondmfg.com/1550.htm1590 series: www.hammondmfg.com/dwg.htmEDIT: Forgot to mention the wall fixing on the boxes has to be minimum 1.50mm...maximum 1.75mm as the tactile switches have about 1.60mm thickness. There are other brands out there but they are limited and pretty much the same problem. Basically it boils down too, the bigger the box the less stressful it will be for me, the smaller the box the less chance of me making them for peeps. I could conquer this problem with using lipo batteries but i don't feel safe with them so i would not like to make something i don't feel safe with for others. Any thoughts will be most welcome.

Just for info to add to the above, my choice would be for a lot less stressful build (i think) would be: Internal size:Height 95.23mm - Width 45.23mm - Depth 21mm : www.hammondmfg.com/pdf/1590G.pdf (not happy with the 1.90 thickness of the wall but i am sure i can get around that) External size:Height 100mm - Width 50mm - Depth 25.50mm With the following specs: Evolv DNA20 or if i can get my hands on one DNA30 (think the DNA30 is the same price as the DNA20) Evolv USB (same) Transparent screen frame (change in color) Evolv USB (same) Airflow control (same) Firing and Up & Down buttons 200g force Tactile switches (change in firing button) Silver alloy wheel coating (same) - i prefer to use this as it's very hard wearing and chip free, plus it has lacquer already in the spray for that extra toughness, only problem is the lack of color range. EDIT: Just for comparison the MVP 2 dimensions is: External size: Height 107mm - Width 41mm Depth 22mm

The size difference doesn't seem to be too great......I'll measure it up against my MVP to compare a bit later. Can't get to it at the moment......

If you were not determined to use a metal casing, I would be able to make you some hardwood boxes with bespoke internal / external dimensions and in / out ports etc. J

Ok, I'll go first. The slightly bigger box for me is neither here nor there, its less than half an inch wider and only 3mm deeper than an MVP so no problem for me. The only thing I would like is, if possible, to keep the large fire button or have a different fire button from the other two. This is only a personal preference, if it is not possible due to the dimensions of the box or it complicates the build for you then fine I can go along with 3 tactile switches. Now the big question. . . . . Does it come in metalic BLUE ? LOL. Thanks for the time and effort you've put in on this project. I really hope you decide to go ahead with the build for us. P.S. All my slow boat orders are on hold for now.

Super-Shiny . . . I hope you don't mind, but I've popped your thread into the Mod Shop, as it now seems to have developed into a possible order/sales thread? Just to keep everything tidy. If you'd like it moved to the Modders/Rebuildable Board, then please do say - I was betwixt and between the two.

With practice would the original design not prove easier to make? in a the more you do the easier it becomes sort of way? The size of the one you made seems to be ideal

The size of the one you made seems to be ideal That's the problem, there is no room to practice, it's such a tight area and the wires are way too cramped for my liking and i really don't fancy going through that all again
