Looking at the mod.... it doesn't seem to be insulated at all at the bottom, so when I press the button on the bottom, it will go through the body and short it... this could be the reason, there is an insulation ring (in pick) for the battery, but where the spring button and the threaded pin is, there nothing to insulate

00.0 (with the coil thats giving me 2.00) This is the problem, you have a dead short and when connecting your battery your shorting out the battery, not good and dangerous. Im not familiar with the aerotank heads but I believe their similar construction to the protank 2 only dual coil. The likely short is because the coil lead legs at the base of the head are a little long and are shorting out. Take the coil head back out of the atty and see if you can see any wires poking out by the white rubber grommet in the base of the coil head. Cut these as short as possible then test again until you get 2 ohms on your meter. Then your good to go. Don't connect to the battery if your getting zero ohms. You cant mess with the coils, there's nothing to see or touch

You can strip those coils down into about 5 pieces and recoil them. In your pic to the right you see a thing white seal or grommet. Between this seal and the positive pin (furthest piece of metal to the right I your pic) if you look closely you'll see two wires, you need to snip these as short as possible as these are likely what's causing the short when you screw the coil head into the base. Alternatively you can continue to get nowhere Just trying to help mate but you seem to have jumped in a bit deep with a mech mod if your unwilling to dabble with coils I'm afraid. Bottom line is if you don't fix the atty and try and use it on a mech mod without a kick or a fuse then at best you'll ruin your battery and at worst you'll have a serious fire on your hands, or even in your hands

Actually when I zoom in in your photos I can see that the negative leg of your coil is way too long and distorting the grommet insulator. Can't see the positive wires but there possibly too long too. Cut then all as short as possible with a small pair of nail clippers.

I dont mind doing it... but what I didn't expect is to get something out of a packet and start modifying it out of the pack, it should be good to go from the outset, so I need to get coil, and sort it out before I use it... I see what your saying about jumping in, but I dont mind doing that, I have to learn how to do it, anyone can recommend what equipment I need and where to get it from please? I just thought it would be later rather than sooner I would be doing this, first mod, "fail" so onto the next stage... thanks guys for your help so far

Your right they should just work out of packet but sometimes they don't and that wire I can see is so long its a shocking build. The wire I see is the negative so in itself shouldn't cause a problem but you'll have wires on the other side of that distorted white insulator and if there too long they will short to the base when you screw the coil in. There should be likely four wires, two from each coil. Two one side of the insulator and two the other side. The most important two to cut really short are the two nearest the bottom pin of the coil as they are the positive connectors. Just cut all four wires as short as possible. Then put the atty back together, add the mod head again and test resistance again from positive pin to threads. If you get 2 ohms fire her up

Do you see ?
