Just got my Sailing Type Mechanical Mod with Adjustable Pins, put it together, and the battery is heating up for some reason, this is how I put it together, only thing I can think is the battery is the wrong way around, but I dont think it is? got the battery from a recommended UK ebay seller

I adjusted the pin, at the top (so the battery is firm and not rattling about) but not too tight, I put it together (as in the photo) and all it did was heat up, have put another coil in but not tried it yet (in case the battery IS the wrong way around

It looks like a mechanical mod, so the battery can be one way or the other it doesn't matter. Where exactly is it heating up? The atty will get hot anyway.

There's a short in it somewhere if the battery is getting hot. Take the battery out and check the insulation in the top cap and switch. Batteries heating up is a sign that something is very wrong. It could be either the mod or the attie. Check that the positive post in the attie has an insulator around it and it isn't shorting there. Not an expert but that would be where I would start

There you are then. If you can't locate the short, flatten the mod with a hammer before you bin it and buy another.

Insulation looks fine to me, the battery is sitting on top of it, and is the bottom is clear of the body and not touching anything (photos)

As Greg and erik514 have said earlier you may have a short in your atty - have you checked the resistance of your coil? Best to eliminate this before concentrating on the mod. It is sound safety practice to always ensure that your coil is good before attaching an atty to a mechanical mod.

Some scenarios:
1 Does the battery heat up in the mod even without the atty? Most probable cause is battery is shorting. Most likely the switch or center pin on the top cap.
2.If not 1, does the battery heat up when you just attach the atty? Most probable cause is center pin on top cap is shorting when you screw the mod in.
3: Does the mod constantly fire when you put it on? Then switch needs investigating.
4.If not 1,2 or 3, does the battery is heat up when you are attempting to vape? Then:
4a: Atty is shorting
4b. If not 4a the battery is close to or above it's C rating . Try with a higher resistance coil.
5. Does the battery heat up outside the mod? Defective battery. Dispose off immediately by burying it in the garden and buy another or exchange it.

How do I test the coil?
Just the mod itself with the battery in it, the battery isn't overheating, when I attach the atty it overheats
