Hallo all inhabitants of Vapourland....anyone else been recently diagnosed or is a long term sufferer of COPD and vapes? Earlier last year, my son and daughter-in-law came over from NZ with my new baby grandaughter, and I REALLY didn't want to smoke around her....neither my son nor daughter-in-law do, and they hate it....so I bought a lookie-likie fake fag, and HATED it!!! I was diagnosed with moderate (just... @74% FEV-1) COPD last October, and I quit smoking immediately, went onto the terrible NHS NRT...yech.... until my lovely, friendly postman recommended and obtained my EGO ecig for me! I was VERY pleasantly suprised how good the EGO was, how easily I was able to adapt to it, and replace the 50+ fags I'd been burning my lungs with for the last 40 years and I've been more than happy with it since. After a few days on my ecig, I stopped coughing....during the night, first thing in the morning, as well as all day....BRILLIANT!!! If you have COPD, how has vaping effected you? How long have you been doing it and has there been any effect on your FEV-1 readings....up or down? Has your breathing, after exertion, changed...better or worse? Do you vape sweet/other flavours? Anything else you can add would be very much appreciated. TIA drifter

I was diagnosed with mild copd last year. I packed in the fags and started to vape. I now have regular lung function tests at work. Which I pass with flying colours. Hope this helps I also don't get chest infections anymore.

If you've been smoking for 40 years then mild (at least) COPD is pretty much inevitable. All it means is that your lung capacity has been reduced, which shouldn't really come as a surprise. But you still need to keep an eye on it - get it tested regularly (annually? ask your doc) even if you are feeling fine because COPD can be progressive - keep getting worse even though you've stopped smoking (whether or not you vape). Fortunately it is rare for this to happen, but it is nasty when it does.
And yes, I smoked for 50 years, so I have COPD, mild last year, getting it tested again in a couple of weeks, although I am much healthier. I used to get bronchitic attacks which laid me low a couple of times/year. Since I swapped the fags for ecigs 18 months ago I haven't had a day when my health was bad enough to stop me going to the gym.

I quit real cigarettes more than a year ago, been on e-cigs every now and then but still can't get rid of the annoying cough. There's not been a single day in the last 12 months that I haven't had to cough. Been to a few different GP's but the best I got from them is that it's the stomach acid which is irritating my throat when I am breathing.
Anyway, I am trying to cut down even on e-cigs but can't quit them for good just yet. Too much of a habit freak I am.
Hope you're all OK.

Its natural to cough,as long as its not a protracted and hacking cough.Coughing clears the mucus that naturally collects in the lungs during the day and night.
