But it was the man bit that caused the problem Ian as per usual....

The only time I've had a E4 error on my Provari, was when the wound coils on the Iatty were touching each other, the same happened on the Darwin with it . . . so it's a good safety feature more than anything, against inadvertent user error.

lol Lilac You are very correct though.Perpy you have hit the nail on the head,i was told that most of the E4 errors occur when using rebuildables.I will now concentrate and make each coil with great care.In saying that its the first time ive rushed and messed one up, so not bad going at all.Always lessons to be learned no matter how long you have vaped for.

Is E4 caused by the resistance varying, rather than a permanently low resistance (E2)?
Having the coils almost touching will cause a varying resistance as the coil heats up and moves slightly, causing partial shorts.

Yes Steve,im sure that is the case. When i explained to Provape i was using a rebuildable they told me that the E4s were definately happening due to my coil dramatically varying in resistance. After examining the suspect coil it appears that i hadnt wrapped the wire round the wick tight enough.I hate wrapping the wire round the wick to tight as it tends to burn the wick.I usually get the balance perfect but this time i had made a mistake Oh well,i will always double check my coils from now on.If you are using a rebuildable on the Provari and get an E4 error dont panic, its more than likely a coil change will sort the problem.Mine is working perfectly again now,you live and learn and im glad i now realise that E4 is an atomiser problem and not a problem with the device.

I've also heard the Provari can throw a wobbly with dual coils?

I've also heard the Provari can throw a wobbly with dual coils? Never once had an issue with dual coils on it, won't let you go above 4.1-4.2v though without an error 2 code

A little addendum to this thread, 99.9% sure a sloppy rebuild on a Bulli has just taken out a brand new big ego-t pass thru, so I guess it's a plus the Provari gives you an E4 instead of a nuked battery... sigh..... be careful out there folks ;-)

Sorry to hear about your PT mate.I totally agree regarding being careful with your coil making,i now keep mine neat and triple check it before fireing up my mod.Ive had no more E4 error codes on the Provari which just shows it was a bad coil i had made.I agree that the Provari is world class as atleast it alerts you straight away of any problem.I mainly use my Provari now as an ohms and coil tester, lol.
