We have decided to treat ourselves to a coffee machine to go into our new home. I have been looking at loads of different makes and I am a it bamboozled by it all!! I would like one that grinds the beans. His nibs likes expressos and I like americano or lattes. Can any of you highly recommend a model?

Can't recommend a make or model but a friend of mine has an espresso machine and it's really good, apparently the cheaper ones don't work so well though, something to do with steam pressure or something like that

Don't know anything about coffee machines Dolly, but a lovely idea to treat yourselves for your new home. Good luck in finding one that suits you both

LOL, yep, I had already seen that. Another Heston whatshisface rip off! I certainly won't be spending that much on a coffee machine. I'd rather buy a new riser recliner chair!

Blownupdolly - we also wanted first a machine that grinds the beans but then decided for a tassimo - and no regretts - it makes absolutely gorgeous coffee - and I am from Austria - our coffee tradition is world known - we buy the tabs online - and there are loads of lattes , americanos and espressos and no hassle with the machine

Blownupdolly. According to Which? the cheapest "beans to cup" Best Buy is the DeLonghi Magnifica ESAM4200, @ £249.99 from Currys. As Super-Shiny says they do get very expensive.

Earlier I was looking at kettles. I was salivating over this really unusual one, which looks dead classy. Soon got put off, first by the price and then the dreadful reviews it got. Why is it these designers can make things look pretty but can't make them fit for purpose!! www.johnlewis.com/bugatti-vera-kettle/p681223Mr Dolly would have gone berserk anyway. Night on £200 for a kettle is outrageous.

There was me thinking I had to spend a ridiculous amount of money to get one like that. When we lived in Australia, they were coffee mad. You wouldn't dare serve up a cup of Nescafé!!
