As Clivia says, the Tassimo machine is very good. Love mine. I've got three coffee machines in my kitchen and the other two are virtually redundant. Very easy to clean too. The coffee pods are expensive, but overall it wouldn't be as half as expensive as one of those beans to cup machines.

lol Blownupdolly - kinda same in Austria - but we had Austrian friends over - and I served them in the morning netto's own instant coffee - they did not know them and our friend sais : oh that's an absolute great coffe - can I have another cup - me:sure - he followed me in the kitchen and you should have seen the expression on his face : you did not just serve me an INSTANT coffee - me: yes and you liked it - I have to say to his credit that he bought one the very day . but the tassimo is really great - and not too expensive - would recommend to buy also the decalcifying tabletts from bosh.uk - if you register with tassimo you get 20£ off the first order and if you order for £35 the delivery is free - hubby loves the caramel latte

Depending how long you want to wait for it, if you join the Costa Coffee Club, they often do special offers on the Tassimo machines. I got my £100+ machine for £30 and got the £20 off the first order. Bargain!

I go to Costas quite often as my little granddaughter likes going there for a baby chino as a treat. I will ask next time we go.

Blownupdolly. According to Which? the cheapest "beans to cup" Best Buy is the DeLonghi Magnifica ESAM4200, @ £249.99 from Currys. As Super-Shiny says they do get very expensive. I've had one of these for about 5 months. Paid £300 for it on Amazon. Very pleased with it and think it's better than the Gaggia bean to cup machines I've had in the past. Now to the maths :- Tassimo 29p per cup Bean to cup 9p per cup So 5 cups per day saves you £1. Deduct the price of a Tassimo from 250 and that's how many days later you are in profit

I like espresso, but I also like instant, and I'm lazy. My OH isn't lazy but is less bothered about the taste difference, so it is down to me.
Some time ago we got a beans to cup proper espresso machine, but I never used it.
Now we have a nespresso, and I wouldn't call it quite the same as real espresso, but it is a lot better than instant and we do use it, although only for one cup each/day. It is expensive - not so much to buy the machine, as for the 'pods' - you are looking at around 50p per cup for nespresso brand, maybe 35p/cup for clones.

I've got an old dualit, similar to the one in Super-Shiny 's review, makes a decent coffee though you can only get expresso sized cups under it, and the frothy milky thing is pants! Oh and the black plastic bit the coffee comes out of has dropped off and is "no longer made" Recently I've been lusting after this- www.scanomat.co.uk/int/topbrewer/introduction

If you go there quite often you should pick up a Costa coffee lovers card anyway. Its just like a Tesco clubcard, you hand it over and get points and every so often you can use it to get a free coffee.

cant be much help with bean to cup machines www.hasbean.co.uk/collections/starter-packs/products/the-new-espresso-starter-packworth a look for beans , roasted to order and the porlex grinders are good though tbh I have an electric metal bladed one that is 20 odd years old that I think is fine , which coffee purists would cringe at. machine I use is delongi icona.....fitted in nicely with new kitchen décor and I think the machine is great.. though those in "the know" would recommend the gaggia classic. can be an interesting topic to read up on and so many conflicting reviews etc good luck with search
