Whats so special about cartomisers?.. I see people asking where they can buy boges all the time. Whats the difference between a normal clearo tank and a carto and tank?.. im struggling to understand the appeal.

Unlike clearos, I have never had a leak, gurgle or dry hit using a Boge in a decent carto tank .. just a great and consistent vape and up to two weeks constant use before I needed to change for another £1 Boge. Although I have both the Diver and Sophia rebuildable cartos, I still resort to a Boge on those days when I can't be a$sed recoiling or when on holiday ... totally faff free.

I find them easier and more reliable than rebuildables. Normally use boge xl lr cartos with AGR+ tanks, although will be buying some thinner tanks to fit the VTR soon. The taste and vapour production are immense.

Where would you say carto tanks fit into the scheme of things - something like clearos<Carto<RBT<RBA? Sorry about the vague general nature of the question; up until I saw this thread I skimmed past anything I saw mentioning cartos as I thought they were only referring to the things on top of cig-alikes... So have had a quick google and you tube - blimey - another continent that I didn't know existed has revealed itself on Planet Vape I'm still lost - many of the articles/videos I've come across give the impression that cartos had their time in the sun but superceded by something .. RBA's ?? Obviously from what you've all said in response to Steve (VapeStorm)'s query they are very much alive and kicking! Are they worth considering from a newbie's point of view? (i.e. someone like me!) What would you use them on - vw device or mechs? Going to hit the sack - look forward to seeing your insights tomorrow! Promise I will do some more googling too - but this was such a curveball, I just had to ask

To give you an idea how fast vaping is moving, when I started two years ago cartos were THE in thing. Prior to that you used an atomiser (similar to a 306 I guess) and a little plastic cartridge filled with wadding and a few drops of juice pushed on top of it. These two combined into a single cartomiser that could hold about half a ml of juice was a massive leap forward. There were no clearos, no rebuildables, no tanks. You just screwed your carto onto a (ego) battery, stuck a drip tip in the end and that was it.

Yep it definitely moves fast. Just goes to show that sometimes the old ideas are the best

Thanks for the link Perpetua Hmm... interesting ..... must keep away from wallet till I've figured out where I stand ... I'm usually really tight when it comes to spending, but vaping has found a huge defenseless back door into The Wallet ... eek! Meanwhile I found this to be really a helpful intro in case there are other carto-challenged people like me out there:
