Lol, the penny dropped after I'd logged off toots - bit slow there me! Yes, they do have a lot to answer for, but I reckon some of us would still be laying down some stocks of nic base . . . the siege mentality, shopping opportunities, bargain hunting and just because we can have driven much of my nic base purchases, long before regulation was an apple in some twonkers eye. You should have seen the Bleach Lake I discovered after my recent move.

For bulk freezer storage of my nic base I use sterilised dark glass screw cap wine bottles and just pour some into a 100ml amber glass bottle (from the local pharmacy) as and when needed.

I never thought of that @yinyang & Clivia what a good idea. I don't drink any alcohol myself but the other half does, we've got a fair few bottles in the wine rack but I think they've all got the corks in them, will have to look for a bottle with a screw lid. Maybe I could get a couple of 500ml ones so the bottles are not so big in the freezer, easier to store smaller bottles than the larger one. Yinyang you said you sterlised the bottles - how do you do that? What do you put in them to get them sterlised? Could I just put them in the dishwasher, would that do?

toots - there are also 250ml wine bottles - and I guess the dishwasher will be fine - otherwise the ultrasonic cleaner - or just simply boil them for 10 to 15 minutes

I don't have an ultrasonic cleaner Clivia, but I could boil them. Just put them in a big saucepan of water and bring it to the boil?????? Haha, never heard of doing that with glass bottles, you sure they wouldn't shatter. Wouldn't want pieces of glass flying around the kitchen as they explode

I just fill them with hot water, add a Steredent tablet and screw on the cap. Leave overnight and then rinse out in cold water. I am my wife's dishwasher but a dishwashing machine would be ideal for the wine bottles.

Stubbies are in 250 ml glass bottles. I'm sure your other half could drink 4 of them. Maybe a local bar has some going spare? And I don't see a problem with using a real cork in them. The reason cork is used is because its sterile, I think. Don't think I'd use a plastic cork though! Also I think dishwasher would be OK to clean them - bottom shelf, and obviously upside down!

Gawd, just been having words with hubby, coz he's saying glass bottles in the freezer will eventually shatter, coz he put a bottle of champagne in the freezer once and that exploded, the glass shattered and there was a hell of a mess in the freezer. I've been telling him that everyone on here has been advising me to use the glass bottles, but he's not buying that. Flippin heck

Pg doesn't expand or freeze Toots it goes thick and it's got no bubbles lol. When you fill your bottles fill to the brim so no air is left and I use 100ml bottles which I pop into freezer bags to stop air.

babs is that the same with VG - my nic base is coming in VG not PG. I've also got a litre of VG coming so will be putting that into bottles and freezing as well.

It's absolutely fine toots . . . exactly the same as a PG base as to how it reacts to freezing in glass bottles. The vast majority of my base is VG, in the freezer and nothing untoward has happened in the 2 some years some of it has been in there.
