Does anyone get a decent marzipan taste from any of these flavours? I've just tried my umpteenth one of this flavour, this time - FA marzipan, mixed at 20% 80/20 but there is still no real ooooomph to the flavour. I mixed up a little 2ml sample along with 2ml samples of FA black jack, mom and pops grape ape and TJ Red Astaire all same concentrate % and PG/VG ratios. I only let them steep a couple of days as they are samples to see what they are like before I mix 10 or 20ml to steep for a couple of weeks.
I'm thinking about mixing the marzipan at 27% to see if I can get a taste like it smells from the bottle...
Any advice?

Let them steep longer for the flavours to really infuse is my first suggestion, as they do change over a couple of weeks . . . F'arts Marzi Malone is quite a nice Marzipan flavour: www.flavourart.co.uk/thats-nice-blended-flavours-10ml.htmlSecondly I don't know that teeny 2ml samples are necessarily a good indication on some of the more subtle flavourings.

Cheers perps - so is marzipan considered a subtle flavour? I'm looking for a stonking sweet cake type marzipan. Will I achieve this if I mix with more sweetener and a higher % conc? Perpetua

Hi Clivia thanks. Is that the cherry from the fruit section? I've got that, it's a really strong cherry flavour, really good for adding to bland juices.

Try mixing at much much lower strengths, sometimes less is better. I have some almond concenrate and does not take much to make it too strong and just takes on a real dry nutty flavour which is quite unpleasant.

I've tried a few almonds, and the only one Sandra & I think is any good is Sainsbury's (the ordinary, not the luxury version, can't remember what they call it, had oil in I think) mixed at something like 40%. The Marzi Malone that Perpetua likes is nice but I find it gets a bit sickly after a while.

PerpetuaI'd still be leaving them for longer and making them up in greater volumes in truth Cammy . . . overnight/ a day isn't long enough for a flavour to really develop. If you add too much concentrate to compensate, then you'll just end up with a soapy taste. Depending on what you currently mix at.

I've mixed a 2 new batches of 7ml @ 15 and 28% and I'm going to leave them for three weeks to see the difference. I've got plenty to keep me amused until then and have rescued what was left of the first mix by adding some JJ cherry home brew to it - it's so flavoursome it rescues even rotten juice.. Cheers
