Slightly off track here but I have to say right now, I wish I was moving home. I live in a very quiet neighbourhood, however, a new mini estate has been built on an allotment area at the back of my home. The people have moved in 11 social housing and 11 private and 5 flats. The house directly behind me is now occupied. Today the children, bless em, were screaming and shouting ( under school age) and the parents were screaming at the children and the bliddy dog was barking it's head off, it was like bedlam. Gone are the quiet sunny days in the garden, my afternoon naps and letting my little dog out to sun himself in the garden. I want to move now, I will even take the 1 bedroomed 'rabbit hutch' they call a bungalow than stay here.

Make a list of absolutely everyone you need to contact to notify them of your change of address, even down to store loyalty cards . . . and work your way methodically and religiously through it. Do as much as you can in advance . . . also take the opportunity to find if there are better deals available to you on your utility services/insurances. It's something many of us tend to put off, thinking it's ' easier ' to stay with our current providers. It's something I found hugely time consuming when I moved recently and when you're in your new home, they're jobs that you can do without with the unpacking/settling in that you'd far rather be spending precious time on. It sounds really basic, but a list helps focus your mind and it's rather satisfying being able to cross things off as you've done them. Good luck to everyone on the move.

Ah cheers Karma! Will get OH to ring them during his lunch break, just in case. Worth a try. The house we're buying has a back boiler so I was trying to find out if we could get any help to change it to a combi another tipMy DD and her hubby just moved last week. Before they moved she recommended her hubby to Sky at the new address and got £100 Tesco voucher, he then accepted Sky and got another £100 Tesco voucher, then they cancelled it at the old address Cheeky gits must have reduced it as my daughter recommended me and we are only getting £75 each!

One of my biggest fears when we were waiting to be allocated a place was being offered somewhere on a troublesome estate, or somewhere very rough. Thankfully, our new place is at the bottom of a privately owned residential street with the woods and riverbank at the end. I am pretty certain it will be very quiet. Being a cul de sac, there isn't much car traffic either.

Doing all this stuff is driving me insane. Being as I am not much help with physical stuff I am responsible for all of this stuff. Mr D is somewhat peeved as my support worker came round yesterday and has offered to come over next Wednesday and run through it all with me. He told her that wasn't fair and she should also come over and help him shift the furniture I won't repeat the reply she gave him.

Doing all this stuff is driving me insane. It's a PITA of a job Dolly . . . nearly drove me witless, you can tell Mr D he's got the easier side of moving. I'd also suggest buying/mixing a stronger strength of eliquid than you'd normally use . . . . your ' Moving Day Brew ' ( if you solely DIY have at least 3 weeks of juice in hand, you won't want to be faffing mixing for the first few weeks ) you will get stressed and those around you will also be stressed, no matter how carefully you think you've got every detail planned, an unscheduled crisis is bound to crop up. Mine were: My lovely leather settee not fitting through any door or window in my new home, didn't look at the size of those when I viewed the property - so I gifted it to one of the Removal men. The TV aerial was kaput, fortunately I'd pre-booked Virgin to install my wi-fi etc the following day and the aerial man to put an extension point in and fit a TV to the wall on the Monday. So I got him to install a new aerial at the same time. I couldn't figure out how to make the new to me hot water/central heating work, it was cold as I moved in December and the house had been empty for several weeks. So I got the Virgin engineer to sort it out and show me the following day. All in all, it was an utterly miserable night in my new home . . . but it soon becomes a memory and all the trauma and upheaval is worth it.

I'm still feeling in limbo, still not had the written acceptance of our offer and Mr K keeps being pessimistic about it That must be a big worry you don't need on top of everything else. It seems I am not the only one married to a worry guts As for our Sky/phone/broadband troubles. Mr D has finally lost his temper with them (that is a very rare occurrence) we decided to go with Sky for everything to save faffing about. Really wish we hadn't now. They can't decide between themselves and BT whether or not we need a new phone line installation or not . So we have the passing the buck scenario right now. Each blaming the other. I had practically reduced myself to tears speaking to various inept, couldn't care less kids that they employ. Mr D has now phoned and told them that because I am disabled and in need of the phone for my carer alarm system, if they don't pull their finger out and have it sorted by Monday he is contacting the media and the relevant ombudsman. I'm that mentally worn out with them all I feel like going to bed.

Sounds stressful Blownupdolly It's amazing how often this 'non existent' address thing crops up. We had huge problems when work moved premises a couple of years ago. We still don't know which is the right postcode out of 3 ??? My daughter a few years back stayed in a flat for a year and never ever paid any electricity as she couldn't find out who was supplying her

My daughter a few years back stayed in a flat for a year and never ever paid any electricity as she couldn't find out who was supplying her I'd swap your daughters issue with mine any time! how come things like that don't happen to me? The really stupid thing about our problem is that the building has been there since the 80s, and even though it has all been reconfigured and refurbished, our door number has always been there and hasn't changed in position within the building. It took me 15mins to get it through to the baboon at Sky, that there must already be a live phone connection to the building as I had just rang the warden there who answered the phone in the office!!

After 3 months of living here, Npower the old provider finally got in contact with a bill for ' The Occupier ' . . . no one was certain who the supplier was. I'd put the switching process in motion before I moved anyway as I was happy with my old company and their deal.
Anyway, they wanted to charge me £124 for 3 weeks of Gas & Electricty, bearing in mind I had 4 days off work to move and get sorted and I'm really only here in the evenings/weekends now. Needless to say, there was some ' warm ' discussion, the threat of Ofgen and the bill was reduced by half.
And, the local Water Board fitted my meter to the wrong property, but they've been excellent in their handling of it, so I've no complaints about them.

D day today!! We have to go sign the tenancy and pick up the keys at 3pm. Ideally it would have been better for us if we could do that this morning so we can start shifting boxes and smaller items, but it is what it is. Surprisingly, I am pretty calm. My little "helper" rang up before going to school to make sure she definitely IS going to be taken to Costa Coffee for a babychino and chocolate brownie after "helping" Nemesis, Kayfun, Titanide and plenty of juice and batteries in handbag. I know I should be hassling SKy and BT again but I really can't be bothered yet.
