These things are the only thing that scare me. Pure Evil and now that the weather is getting better, they're on their way & I'm scared.

I got stung for the first time ever last year, whilst camping. Luckily I found out I'm not allergic! But, yeah, can completely understand your fear... bees I love, but wasps are just nasty

Oh bumble bees yeah - I love bumble bees. Wouldn't want one as a pet though lol
If I am at home & a wasp flies in the window, the room immediately belongs to the wasp. I'm out of there.

I'm exactly the same CaptainChaos - I could face down a lion, wrestle with a bear and swim with a shark, but show me a wasp and I'll run the other way. Flying stingy things with a malicious streak - eurgh.

Hornets are worse than wasps. Driving in France one year, wearing shorts, felt something tickling my thigh. Looked down and a Hornet about 2 inches long was crawling towards the leg hole in my shorts. Fastest emergency stop in history.

ronaldoYes - those horrible black huge mutant wasp things in that person's hand were hornets - Chinese I think - they have a really bad attitude, I've heard.

Can anyone answer a simple question here - why do wasps exist? We have this conversation in my family every year, and still don't have a plausible answer! Bees pollinate, flys eat dead matter, and nearly every other insect lives on this planet for a good reason; but wasps!? This is my worst nightmare; I know, I'm a wimp, but come autumn they are everywhere in Cornwall, and I hate them. I'll quite happily leave a room to them

Had a wasp in the room yesterday... didn't think I could still move so fast. Threw open all the windows, got a magazine, and shooed it out. Thought it was a bit early for them.
Last week I felt something drop on my head at work, when it fell off I saw it was a bee... no panic, it was very lethargic on the floor, so got some cardboard and carefully moved it to a safer place. Totally different reaction.
