SVD 0.0 resistance / red light

Had it for 5 weeks. That lasted!

Im getting a 0.0 ohm reading and a 5 second red button every time I try and fire my SVD. Ive tried every battery ,evod, protank and iclear30 I have and it happens on all of them.

Ive taken the centre post and grommet out and everything seems to be ok. The soldering is fine, the grommet is a little brown on top but still intact. 

Ive read a few bits and a video about replacing the grommet but I dont have a clue where or what o-ring I should get And I dont have any cartos I can take a grommet out of.

Anyone got any thoughts? If I can be told where to buy an o-ring and which one, and the same with shrink wrap and how to fit it ill give it a go.  Could it be anything else causing the short?


*UPDATE*  just tried the fire button without anything on the svd and it fires but obviously get a 'non' display.  The next logical move was to hold an evod in my teeth and quickly screw it on while firing. I got it to work,  but even as low as 2 watts its like burnt plastic arse!

The wire is still attached to the centre post and the centre post isn't shorting out?

Assuming that you got it from a UK supplier, send an E-mail and get their response. It should last longer than 5 weeks and assuming you hav'nt done anything drastic to it your still covered under current consumer protection.

costs nothing to ask anyway.

anythintreet I have a couple of grommets here that I just taken out from old carto's. let us know before I sell them on ebay for grand

Well, ive tried the carto grommet, the one from my broke vamo, bought heat shring wrap and o rings from b&q, nothing.

Does anyone have advice on how to get this sorted from fasttech as quickly as possible? Theyre gonna want a postage quote, then I'll have to send it, wait for them to get it then wait another month for the replacement to arrive! Second mod ive had off them that lasted less than 6 months. They should be fedexing a new one free of charge straight away.

Ive tried all these fixes on my vamo too but no joy. Is there anyone on the boards a bit more electrical who fixes them?

anythintreet, not sure where he is nowadays, but raid2506 used to offer a repair service for folks. He hasn't been on for a while, but might be an idea to drop him a PM or e-mail.

anythintreet ask ronaldo to see whether he can sort. Apparently he's a dab hand at fixing things.

anythintreet you could also try ronaldo, I believe he will fix anything (including our national security!!), and is by all accounts a nice chap. Fixed zeldamum's Vamo in double-quick time, and I'm sending him a Vamo of mine which has died after about 15 months of daily use!

I have had one of these go the same way, and it wasn`t fixable without a new board. Exactly the same symptoms, took mine apart (that was fun .. NOT) and tested it. No visible cause. I suspect there was a liquid leak inside which knackered it. I got 6 months out of it so didn`t bother with refunds etc, just got another one from FT. I love the mod.

Something I have found with the SVD is giving the telescoping threads a good clean
can reduce unwanted resistance in the body of the mod, that confuse the electronics.

Did you ever get a hotspot at the threading between the top and bottom parts of the SVD markm , or was it just my imagination  A good clean seemed to sort it for a while
