Hi there
I'm new to the forum and looking for some advice regarding buying a good starter kit and any other bits n pieces I may need to get me going (and keep me going). I've been toying with the idea of purchasing one for a while now, however my search on the subject of ECigarettes/vaporizers started only today, so my knowledge is very limited on the subject.
I'm looking to buy a high quality device that is portable and reliable, so im willing to spend a bit to get the best product/s. Something rechargeable with variable output and will last for a days use.
I've been a smoker for 20 years and my current habit sees me smoking approx 50g of Amber leaf tobacco (with filters) a week.
Please can people give me recommendations on what i should be buying, any extras I may need and the strength of nicotine juice that may be suitable.
Thanks in advance

To be quite honest, do you really want to spend a lot of money on something you may not like, I'm not trying to put you off, but you would be better buying a decent eGo preferably something like a Spinner (vv/vw), the higher the mAh the better and a tank like the Kanger Unitank Mini, and then look at sites that sell juices, this is where you will have the greatest problem as not everyone's tastes are the same, myself I mainly prefer, sweets & drinks like custards, puddings and coffees, but you might like the tobacco ones or the fruit ones. If you really don't want to go down the eGo route then try the iTaste MVP v2, with something like an iClear XI as the tank (Clearomizer). depending on where you buy it from, it may come with a clearomizer included Then save your money for when you finally decide to give up smoking and can move up to a more expensive bit of kit like the Provari (£160+) or lots of Mechanical Mods from China, that's the way I started a cheapy eGo which within a few days turned into 3 and now 3 month later 20 odd APVs (Advanced Personal Vapourizers) and about the same amount of tanks of differing sorts, and that is called Shinyitis, it's a long road with no end in sight

Hi wildthing and to the nut house As Perpetua advised above, you definitely need at least one backup battery. The MVP2 is great, will easily last all day, probably 2, between charges, even with heavy use, and can be used as a pass through (can still use when on charge). But definitely get a backup device just in case you can't find a USB port or you misplace your main one. If you're going to give vaping a decent go, you don't want to get caught short. There are so many decent tanks about now, particularly the Kanger Aerotank and the Aspire Nautilus. They both have airflow control, so you can adjust the draw to suit, I have both and they are great. Both are glass tanks, so you don't need to worry about what flavour juice you use in them, as some flavours can cause the plastic tanks to crack. myepack is a great UK vendor with some of the cheapest prices around. Juice flavours are really subjective, so I would recommend getting a tobacco, a fruit, a desert and a menthol to start so you can see what type of flavour floats your boat. Menthol is always good to have as occasionally you will develop the dreaded vapers tongue, where nothing you vape tastes of anything, vaping menthol for a day or 2 will generally reset your tastebuds. Check out both Joosejuice and Smokerainbow for samples without breaking the bank

Greetings and wildthing to AAEC. As has been said, great suggestions offered above. However do please remember whichever set you get, your taste buds have been hammered these last 20 years and will change when you start vaping ( one of the many advantages of taking up vaping ) So slowly at first is the best way to go. we will soon have you up and running

Hi, thanks for your replies everyone.
Looking at the iTaste MVP v2, my feeling is it could be a little too big for when im at work. I need one that's compact and can fit in my pocket ideally. Are there any recommended kits out there that include everything needed to give it a go, and are a bit more portable than the MVP v2? its all a bit confusing at the moment when looking at buying this or that, and then needing tanks (clearomizers) etc.
Also 50g of tobacco a week relates to about 20 rollups per day.
Regards

Hi @wildthingand a warm from me too. Can't say much more than what has already been said above but if you smoke 20 roll ups a day then I would recommend maybe starting a 18mg (1.8) strength for any juice you may buy/try, I smoked 8-12 before quitting and starting vaping, so I find it just right for me most of the time. If you find that's not high enough and you feel you need more then maybe go for a 24mg strength juice. You may even find that is 18mg too high for your tastes etc, everyone is different and if that's the case then you can just go for a 12mg strength instead. I would also recommend a basic EVOD starter kit if you are just getting started, easy to use, has 2 batteries with a clearo on each. I use a Mini Protank 2 kit and bought an extra higher powered battery and find they are great for work, I just take a bottle of juice and a spare battery with me to work just in case one battery runs low or the tank needs topping up.

Also 50g of tobacco a week relates to about 20 rollups per day. Go with 18mg or 24mg. I smoked somewhere around 15 x GV/AL a day...with swan filters. 18mg was touch and go, but I never had the luxury of some of the variable power kit available cheaply these days. I used a plain battery and cartomizers.

Ello & wildthing - the people above me are far more likely to suggest something sensible for a starter & they have mentioned a lot of very sensible options. I started on www.myepack.co.uk with the Evod Starter Kit & flavours from the same site and have gone Shinyitis mad, obviously, as you do.

The Evod starter kit looks like just the ticket, I've checked out some videos on youtube and it gets great reviews so I think i'll go with that to start with and see if i like vaping or not. Now i've decided on that, its down to selecting the right juice... Are there any organic juices that come recommended?
Also does anybody know of any discount codes for myepack before i put an order in?
Thanks in advance

wildthing - hi and a warm welcome from me too! You really won't go wrong with the Evod starter kit, excellent choice!! Organic juices? Not sure, maybe someone else here has come across some, but they are not a massive slice of the market. Try Googling JooseJuice and The Alchemists Cupboard for some great tasty juices at good prices. Be aware that the JooseJuice e-liquid needs from a couple of days to a couple of weeks of 'steeping' to allow the flavours to infuse and combine at a molecular level as the juices are all mixed fresh to order. That said, their samplers at £1.49 for 10ml is a great price. Myepack has no discount code as their prices are about as good as you'll find anywhere online. A word of caution: avoid eBay as vendors there tend to be fly-by-nights who sell the cheaper end of the market at high prices to unsuspecting buyers looking for a bargain. Stick with us and we'll point you in the direction of reliable and trusted vendors, many of whom are forum members here too, which says it all really Best of luck, and keep us posted on your progress!

Ok, so thinking about it, and having watched some more videos on YouTube giving me a better understanding... would I be better off buying the vision spinner 1300mah or the spinner 2 1600mah and then get a tank or two for that as perpetua suggested?
Or would it be still recommended that I just get the EVOD? I'm wondering this because the Vision spinner has variable voltage which as far as I understand the EVOD doesn't? and the battery will last longer as its higher mah.... though with the EVOD you get two of them meaning i'll have a spare..
Decisions, decisions...
