when your torching the coils try not to heat the legs thats what makes them brittle and prone to snapping Not got a torchy thing yet. I used chrisjw 's method for now

After the pic I put it together and shorted. Took it apart and put bit of cotton wool on top of coil and all systems go. Reet chuffed but obviously need to practice. Make sure the coil is lifted off the deck, I think the cotton top is just a coincidence and not actually doing anything Yeah! I thought chimney might be pushing on it hence I insulated the coil.it works ha ha .... For now

I used chrisjw 's method for now Make the wick legs longer, loop them into the channels & have the ends pointing upwards......Screw the chimney on & then coil the legs around the inside of the chimney....trim off excess........The "Navy Nest" method........works every time for me.......no leaks, no dry hits..........I actually coil around 2 lengths of 2mm wick (one long, one short)......trim the shorter one back to the width of your coil after.........sorted.

When this has happened to me it's because I haven't trimmed the wires close enough to the screws, and a stray bit of the wire touches the chimney when it's screwed on. The wires have to be cut right back against the screws to stop this happening

Good call, the ebay screws really make it easier to secure the coils. Note they are Allen though so you'll need an Allen key too.

2.8 ohms is a bit high! Rewick, get to below 1.5 if you can.

I splashed out on one of those screwdrivers with about 10 changeable bits from tesco, £2 I seem to recall Plus you don't get an Allen key with a genuine kf but the ebay screws are still better than the genuine ones especially for 0.3mm kanthal given the square shoulder.

The trick with Kayfuns (and many others I imagine) is that when it comes to cotton wool less is more. Also don't twist the wool to fit it in, squeeze it. The cutting wool needs to be able to channel the juice, and twisting it constrains it from doing that. Squeeze!
