Although I'm semi-retired, I've worked the majority of my life in logistics, distribution and recently retail. I wouldn't know what a Bank Holiday weekend is, and I'm thinking a lot of people are in the same situation. If you believe the newspapers, the whole country is out enjoying themselves on these 'wonderful' occasions... but they still expect shops, leisure and other facilities to be open. Who operates and mans them?... if we're all on holiday! Not to mention the security and emergency services. Mini rant over.

Well, bankers get a holiday I guess.
Judging by my drive on the M25 today, there were a right bunch of bankers out enjoying the long weekend.

I deliberately didn't mention those ******, because I didn't want the thread to turn nasty. But, now you've mentioned it... they get their bonuses AND enjoy their 'Bank' holidays. I'll stop there before I get banned! PS Nothing against the Branch workers, just the disillusioned ones at 'the top' of the 'gravy train'.

in the last decade I have worked in an office - so yeah - great to have a long weekend but I have worked through many (bank) holidays - it was my choice of job - so no regrets or complaints but don't get me started on those on the top of some companies - I have no problems if somebody has a lot of money - even if inherited - good on them - enjoy - however I do have a problem if the CEOs get millions while there is no payrise - not even one according to inflation to those on the bottom , and when CEOs and their cronies treat 'normal' employees as object - and then we even have to do stupid online courses, which questions the brain, of those who created it about work ethos and that we are not allowed to bribe - a colleague of mine on purpose clicked the wrong answer - it did not let him go further but told the right answer and asked the question again rant over

I've always worked in Retail, so Bank Holidays are pretty much like any other working day . . . even more so now with Sunday Trading.
Although we did have a few grumbles with the Easter Sunday closure, many customers don't seem to realize it's a legal requirement for shops over a certain size.

Fact of life - those at the top , directly working for those at top have a hell of a lot of stress and direct and potential disastrous consequences for the business if they get it wrong.
They get paid the money because the market deems that the skills they have are worth it.
Enough this 'bankers this bankers that'/ people getting bonuses etc' it kind of does my head in.
My rant over...

Well,
I worked yesterday, I worked today (for no money at all). In fact, it cost me £20 more or less.
Tomorrow, I shall be mostly doing bugger all.

Sadly its just another day but I wish I was working and collecting double time and then I can count myself rich.
Anyone that is working tomorrow then treat yourself to some vape gear if you get any bonus

The people at the top of these businesses are ultimately responsible and should be held accountable , as if that's going to happen , but those that do these jobs in scamming people or gambling with people's savings are nothing other than ****! They don't produce anything, they don't service anything... they just play the 'bingo' of life, with 'safeguards' to their own welfare. It's the way of the world, and doesn't seem to be changing any time soon.. and I DESPAIR!

I work rolling shifts (aka emergency services type thing shhhh) so if my shift falls on xmas day, new years eve, bank holidays, whatever, then I work cleaning up the destruction other motorists cause.

Tomorrow I shall be mostly eating goat curry and drinking Old Crafty Hen. Just like today, in fact.
