Got my 18350 Caravela delivered and all I can do is look at it until 1st June

Stooopid idiot that I am, I got the wrong batteries for it  I didn't get the flat tops, so they don't fit. Tried them and although I can just about fit them in they shorted out a NEWish dual coil in my protank which I was rather miffed with

I've now ordered the correct batteries to my friend's house in the UK but he don't get here till late on 31st May, so by the time I've collected him from the airport, driven back, had a friendly trying to get away with me batteries chat with him, charged 'em up, I won't be using my brand new shiny beautiful Caravela till 1st June

So, this is me till 1st June

toots I don't have a caravela but how did the nipple top battery cause a short. You can use either in a nemmy and it just means you have to adjust the tubes or upper contact differently.

cant you get a 5mm round magnet to stick on top of your battery i have done this in the past for people

Greg but it did short it out, coz I put the protank in my vtr after trying out the caravela and it wouldn't work until I put a new coil in it.

I then put a used single coil in the protank and tried again with the caravela and it shorted that one out as well. Probably/maybe coz I was screwing the tube down tight and there was no room for the fire button to move the battery up and down (if you get my drift) so it was probably touching the upper contact all the time the tube was screwed down.

I then tried it with an iclear 30s, and although it didn't work at least it didn't short out the coil in that tank. I've got 3 different sized pins and I tried all of them.

I just think the battery is too long with the nipple sticking up, and to my thinking that is the problem here.

I wouldn't have a clue where to get a 5mm round magnet either

they also make vape fuses they sit on top of your battery they are only thin about 1mm i dont know where from but moodyb will hope this helps toots

Although I bought this from focalecig I've been checking the forum and reviews for it on fasttech and peeps are saying you have to use the flat top batteries, so I'll just wait and wait and wait for mine to arrive

toots I wasn't disputing what you were saying just trying to understand why a nipple top would cause atty to short, as I said I'm not familiar with vela mod.

The fuses I used were Smok Magnet 7Amp.

I bought mine originally from HealthCabin as at the time I couldn't find a vendor in the UK, but I noticed recently that UKEcigCabin have them in stock :

I don't think these would help toots though, as they'd make the battery even longer - 4-5mm extra length.

More suitable for a telescopic mod, rather than a fixed length tube mod ( unless it has a decent sized spring in the bottom cap )

there was no room for the fire button to move the battery up and down (if you get my drift) so it was probably touching the upper contact all the time the tube was screwed down.

its suppose to touch the upper contact all the time....its the screw inside the button once pressed that makes contact with the negative end of the battery to complete the circuit that then fires the atty. i been using ft caravela clone since xmas ...not had any shorts issues...is the centre pin wobbley?
perhaps theres was always ashort in the atty but the the vtr 's protection stopped it shorting

Well, I've sort of got it working now. I had to unscrew the throw a little more but I've got a 2mm gap where the tube screws in which is very very annoying and the number now doesn't line up with the ship motif because I can't screw it right down as it should be screwed.

I'm hoping that the flat top batteries will enable me to screw the tube down properly (when they get here).

I have a Caravela but always use flat tops as the nipple ones are too long, so toots is right there. To my eye, there is no way to adjust the top pin up (it simply screws up with a small screwdriver from the top/atty side, or the ball of the thumb from the bottom/battery side), and the bottom pin has no adjustment that I can see

Just seen your last post - I have my Vela mod screwed right down with a flat top 18650 in and the number doesn't line up anyway! I have accidentally dented the top of two of my 650s where I screwed the tube down too far and they now don't fire in my Vamo, but at least the tube screws tight
Flat tops will help a lot, just a pain that you have to wait so long!
