Hello everyone – thought I would join in as this seems like the best place to get some help and advice.
A bit of background. I knew nothing about e-cigs apart from Ryanair trying to sell them (perhaps not the best advert!). Recently, an old friend of mine – like me a long time cigar smoker – told me he had got an e-puffer e-cigar and was getting on OK with it. Since he lives in Italy I couldn’t try it, but intrigued, thought I would look into it. Did some research (as we all call Googling these days!) and didn’t fancy a Cuban cigar lookalike as I only smoke small cigars. Found a long thread on MSE which led me here and to various other sources of information. From all this I concluded my best bet was to get a 510 type kit with a more powerful battery.
After much deliberation (alright – faffing!) I finally opted on Monday evening for a Riva 510 starter kit XL from Freedom Vape, using your discount code and it arrived this morning. I also ordered a few juices from Paradise Vapes which arrived yesterday. I have named names as I thought this was excellent service. To start with I chose high strength cigar (from both suppliers), Ry4 and Flu cured. OK, I know they will not be like cigarettes or cigars, but don’t fancy the flavoured ones yet.
At the moment, I am charging up the battery – the instructions say 8 hours, use for 20 minutes, then another 3 hours.
Decided to join this forum as it seemed very friendly and supportive with none of the snide stuff you often find on forums, so hoping you will help me out as I get started

Hello & welcome Dave Don't worry about the charging for 8 hours, leave one battery on charge & have a vape with the other one

Hi Dave I'm another Riva club membership holder. I get alogn with it really well and find it just the right amount of faff. Your right we are pritty much snide free, and any thast found is beaten out of us pritty sharpish, usually with big sticks.. but I digress... We are happy to help if you have any questions, and if you just wanna hang out and have a read, help yourself. Although if you are just having a read we ask that you bring your own tea/coffee and keep the chewing noises to a minimum cos it disturbs the locals. Oh and pockets will be frisked upon leaving cos we have had a spate of people runnign away with apostrophes for their own use *tut tut*

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I got fed up with waiting and took Chrissie's advice on charging. Just made myself a cup of coffee and had my first few vapes, so this is real time reporting!
My first impression - very pleasant! I need to work on my technique though. I find that if I take in too much in one puff it hits my throat more than a cigar! One great thing is that it doesn't go out - I am perpetually having to relight cigars.
Jemima - I promise I won't nick any apostrophes, mind you I do find semi colons hard to resist

Instead of direct inhaling, hold the vape in your mouth for a second or two

This is great - like an online tutorial. Thanks for that Chrissie, tried that and it worked well. Only other problem is my mouth feels quite dry so had to make another coffee.

Vaping can cause a dry mouth, so you do need to increase your liquid intake

I noticed an increse in fluid intake when I started too, notice I say fluids and not non -alcoholic I think it was something to do with not having to leave my drink inside while I went outside lol
