A sound investment Andy, whilst it's a big outlay initially . . . I'm convinced it will save you money in the long run, as you won't be tempted to try lots of other devices, before succumbing. The Ego/Riva/Tornado charger for a 510 device is this one Dave: www.vapeescape.co.uk/ego%2Friva%2Fecho-usb-charger-with-cord-%28510%29~144You can also get a 3 pin adapter thingwee if you're at all bothered about using your computer USB port for charging your batteries.

Thanks Andy - the one I'm most tempted by so far is the GGTS, but since I haven't clocked up a week of vaping yet, maybe I will leave this for a bit! Thanks Perpetua - that looks like the same as the one I have - I just wondered if you could get them with a bigger lead so it would reach from a desk height down to the socket by the floor, rather than having to put the battery on the floor. I hope that makes sense!

I see what you mean Dave. I've certainly not seen them with any longer leads . . . what I do in a corner of the kitchen is to use one of those floating adapter things, then I've enough socket holes for a couple of chargers and other things to run off of . . . you could do something similar maybe at desk top height? I should add, that I'm really careful to not overload this floating adapter.

You could just buy a USB extension cable, most highstreet and online computer type places sell them, usually for just a coupel of quid. Even tescos have a stock of them.

Wouldn't it be better to have a 3 pin plug Dave to recharge from the mains? It's much easier and convenient IMHO.

I do the same as Perpy, plug mine into a socket in the kitchen above a work surface Dave, I so love my GG's But IMHO, you are right to wait for a while, though in the long run, a good non breakable big battery mod does work out cheaper as the batteries last for years & are so cheap.

What she said - plus it has 1001 ither uses around the home (unlike a charger with a long wire). Alternatley get a mains extension lead with one or two sockets on the end (for about the same price these days).

Many thanks to all yet again for all the helpful comments. Been offline for a day with no internet - BT grrh - so good to check in again.
I really like the Boge cartomisers - I've sort of got the hang of the "condom method" - but not yet managed the Griz whizz, or is it the Teryl twirl! I will have to get some sort of lanyard holder. They certainly last longer than atomisers and if anything seem to me to give more of a hit.
I got a LR Kanger cartomiser as a freebie which I have seen lots of recommendations for. However, my kit came with a specific warning not to use LR. What sort of 510 battery would I have to get to use LR carts?

Dave, the Kanger aren't really low LR so you should be OK to use it on your Riva battery.

Thanks Chrissie. I have been reading up on batteries and also got some useful information from Jason, so think I am getting a grip on the basics. If I understand it correctly, 2ohms is about the borderline between SR and LR coils. Much below this and you can have problems with batteries like the Riva that are unregulated i.e. reduce in voltage as they run down. So for LR you need a regulated battery like the Ego which maintains a constant voltage. I also read that though you were always told with the Ni-Cd batteries to run them down completely before re-charging to prolong life, this doesn't apply to the current Li-on class of re-chargeable batteries. In fact more regular re-charging may actually keep them going longer. Have I got this about right?

Yes, 100% right about the charging of Li-on batteries And I'll just add that about using LR's, the problem is that the circuitry in the switches of some generic e-cigs, can't cope with the very low LR atties/cartos.
