Hi Guys.
Decided I would like to look in to 'vaping' not least because of the price of cigs these days. I'm confused with the range available so reading what I can on here.
Availability also seems to be an issue (at least in the high street), so any hints and tips welcome for sourcing etc.

Welcome to AAEC jimbo. Have a good read around, there's loads of info here. My one bit of advice is not to just go buying anything that looks too good to be true - they generally are. Having said that I'm sure you're going to decide on your next step by what you're about to read on here

jimbo99 ello & welcome to one of the nicest places you could possibly visit for vaping advice. I am not the best person to ask for what you should get to start with because, as others will tell you, it has become a shiny obsession with me & I am enjoying every second of it

Hi jimbo99Availability on the high street is just one of the pitfalls. An e-cig which looks like a cigarette is as good as useless, unless you don't smoke a lot or want to dual fuel. You've done well to come on here. It's such a shame millions of people are buying almost-useless products and not giving themselves a chance at a real alternative to smoking. Sales of "look-a-likes" are slowing down really fast.... I would happily see them made illegal with the B.S. the brands are touting.

Thanks a lot guys.
From reading so far, it seemed the 'supermarket' e-cigs (the lookalikes) weren't that great, as opposed to getting something a bit more 'substantial'.
I must admit the one thing I hadn't thought about (until reading about on here) was the fact that you need to 'stock up' not just on the consumables, but on batteries since you can't just pop into the corner shop for a 'ten pack'!
Thanks for the links here, I'll have a good look about also, and certainly look/ask for advice!
Jimbo

I must admit the one thing I hadn't thought about (until reading about on here) was the fact that you need to 'stock up' not just on the consumables, but on batteries since you can't just pop into the corner shop for a 'ten pack'! Things like batteries are often available from town centre shops. The biggest problem is either paying too much or getting the lowest quality. The top e-cig vendors are *incredibly* fast at getting stuff out to customers. I've had a battery go down, ordered around lunch time and had it next morning... but yes, you are right. (You can't rely on this either....) My daily vape is an Innokin itasteVV... it's a squared off battery with variable power. Most of the time at home, I use the big brother (the MVP)... or another tube mod.

It's quite normal, I think, to be utterly bewildered at the start of vaping - so many variables, so much choice and oh my, so much information.
I ended up writing a long `help` email on UKV entitled "Bewildered of Berkshire" where I was given specific advice and acted upon it - eight months in and I'm a vaping evangelist with agitator tendancies and a very bad case of shinyitus and am in remission following a Fasttech Porn Addiction. Key bit of advice: have two of everything for when something goes wrong (at least start with two batteries and two clearo's / tanks: plenty of good online stores - myepack as above and vape escape are where I started - both incredibly professional - take note of the discount thread). Visit a dedicated vaping shop and try flavours (spend some money there - we need them to survive, although most of us will leave the B&M's to thrive on our recommendations and we tend to go online).
Suggest you get a couple of batteries (with 510 connectors) between 650 mAh and 1100 mAh A couple of tanks (protank 3 is good, as are the mid-range Innokins) A couple of tobacco juices (strength dependant upon tank type and how much you smoke today). Expect to spend between £30 and £50 as an initial outlay, including juice. Expect to go off the tobacco flavours for a while when your tastebuds return...
Hey - tell us more about what you want and we'll probably be a little more specific.... Either way, you're in a good place with friendly and helpful people. And be welcome.
