Hi - it's me (again).
This is just a blind punt in the dark about mixing.
What do I need to get, precisely, to start mixing to get a result (good or bad I'm not bothered - I just want to try & get better as I go along).
I have a couple of flavours I'd like to try to recreate, but have no idea how (Lime, Cola).
I have read the mixology guide but ended up being quite confused & even further away from having the nerve to start.
It'll be a total 'hand-holding' exercise, so bear with me & excuse the ridiculous questions that I will come up with.
Thank you
Ian

This is one of the best videos out there on how to start mixing.

Gear wise, there's some good topics and help files in mixoligy section, thats should help get you started.
You basically need the right equipment to start, but that's probably condensed down to a nicotine base, pg and vg, a couple of different sized syringes, a blunt needle or two and a bakers dozen of empty bottles. ( the last lot can be sourced on eBay)
As far as actually physically mixing, you need to find out what your particular brand of concentrate needs to be mixed at - some are as low as 3% (many tobaccos) up to 25% for some weak flavourings. Once you know what percentage, you can key your nicotine base info into this sites mixing calculator (again theres a thread or two going into clear instructions on that) and you just add to one bottle the listed nicotine base, pg, vg and concentrate...then leave to brew with crossed fingers!
It is rather trial and error and you can only really tweak to find what suits you best. I have made a excell document where I list what brand/flavour/percentage/comments/stock etc and I use that to guide me and when I read of mixing info I add to it.

So CaptainChaos you have now received a selection of goods from those listed above ( hypothetically of course) You got 72mg nicotine in pg. You also bought yourself a bottle of lime concentrate. You would like to make 10ml of Lime eliquid - 70/30, 18mg. You have been advised to use the concentrate at 10% to start with as Lime can be quite potent. Here is what you do, ( decant some of your nic, pg and vg into smaller separate cups of some sort to make it easier to work with) Take an empty bottle, remove top and stopper. Syringe up, 2.5ml of nicotine and squirt it into your empty bottle. Syringe up 3.5ml of pg, and add that. Syringe up 3ml of vg , and add that. Syring up 1ml of lime flavour and add that. Write on a sticky label what it is and the date, and stick it to the bottle. Pop the stopper in the bottle, and shake like crazy, pop the bottle either top on or off in a cupboard and leave to steep. That's it done. I use separate syringes, but you can just wash them between each liquid.

This is how i do things CaptainChaos but i have OCD: Before I start please note that this is how I do things when mixing and is in no way asking others to follow, we all have our own mixing styles..... It's just a guide that you may take parts from it to use in your own style of mixing.
Before I even think of mixing I have two simple rules:Only start mixing when all is quiet and in a stress free environment. Children and pets will not in anyway be in the near vicinity of me mixing at anytime. If the above two simple rules are in place I can start mixing.
Preparation, for me is the key to a stress free and easy mixing session, my aim is not to have any need to move from my mixing area and also making sure everything is at hand. Space/Room is your friend..............This is the order with my preparation:1: Decide how many mixes I am going to make (in this guide I am making 4 fictional mixes). 2: Remove top caps and inners from the four bottles and put the caps and inners to one side. 3: Label up the bottles with: Name of juice – Nicotine strength – Date juice was made. 4: Get a pot filled with clean water, this pot is used for flushing out a just used syringe. 5: Get a second pot with clean water, this pot is what I call the final flush for the syringe. 6: Make sure all bottles containing the PG/VG/Nic base are full or have enough inside them for the mixing session. 7: Get a 1ml syringe fitted with a 18 gauge needle, this will cover anything that is 1ml and below. 8: Get a 10ml syringe fitted with a 14 gauge needle, this will cover anything above 1ml. 9: I then lay it all out as per picture below: You will notice on the four following recipes that they are all:16mg in strength 60pg/40vg ratio 30ml size And they all have another thing in common, they all have:6.67ml of nicotine base 12ml of VG The only difference is the percentage of flavour concentrate and how much PG is being used.
PG percentage will normally always be different because of the different percentages used with the flavour concentrates. See pictures below of the percentages of flavour concentrates and how it effects the percentage needed in PG, the more percentage I use with the flavour concentrates the less PG will be needed. Example of how my ejuicemeup calculator looks for making the Apple flavour:Now onto the mixing part...........As all my mixes are using 6.67ml of nic base I fill each bottle with 6.67ml of nic base...... I am now finished with the nic baseAs all my mixes are using 12ml of VG I fill each bottle with 12ml of VG...... I am now finished with the VGAll I do then is go back to the first recipe and put the required amount of PG needed for that recipe, then onto the next recipe and so on.... I am now finished with the PGNow all I do then is go back to the first recipe again and put the required amount of concentrate needed for that recipe, then onto the next recipe and so on.... I am now finished with the concentratesAll mixes are now done and I can now put the inners back onto the bottles, once this is done I give the bottles a good shake whilst making sure I am holding the tip to stop any juices coming out and then squeeze each bottle a little to get rid of any air built up inside the bottle. Put caps on the bottles and then store them in a cupboard to steep for their required amount of time. Then it's just a case of cleaning the two syringes and putting everything away for next time. Mixing session is now over

Super-Shiny oh great - just when sammy13 does a "CaptainChaos-idiot" guide to mixing, you come up with something that NASA would use! hahahahaha When I get far more advanced, I'll come back to that guide, but thank you a lot for your time in trying to explain

sammy13 - I don't know you but and That's exactly the sort of guide I needed - does that sort of guide work with other flavours too? That works for everything, the only thing that changes is the amounts of each liquid that you add. Even if you use 2 or 3 flavours it is still the same but different amounts. So if you wanted to make 10ml of LIME COLA ( Coke do that I believe ), 70/30, 18mg - ( I don't know the exact percentages you would need to use but lets say 10% of each for the purpose of this), you would syringe up and pop in your empty bottle just as easy as before these amounts - Nic - 2.5ml PG - 2.5ml VG - 3ml Lime - 1ml Cola - 1ml You still have a 10ml bottle of 18mg juice at 70/30 but this time it is Lime Cola , rather than just lime.

WOW - with help and advice like that, how can you possibly go wrong CaptainChaos? As soon as you get your equipment all together, give us a shout and we'll help you along. It's great fun, with a small sensation of Mad Scientist Syndrome to boot, and it's so satisfying to vape a juice that you have created yourself.
