Hey Red, welcome! I have the Ego-T 1000mAh and use it with SR Kanger's at the moment - Perpetua, in my opinion, has hit the nail on the head with her info, as that is almost exactly (Ego instead of Riva) my setup, and I'm loving it. I'm now tempted by LR Kanger's if they're really that good... That said, I'm also on the list for a Lavatube, and I'm planning to get a Lil Mama/Big Papa tank to go with that. My word, I'm advancing fast! Hahahah Doesn't take long once you get hooked does it Peekay. Although I always say, smoking was never this much fun!

Red, it will just mean so much to us if you do let us know your thoughts & updates with how you are getting on. We have on average 500 lurkers per day & I'm sure that many of them are encouraged so much by especially new members posts, to give e-cigs a try

Red - welcome from another Newbie - I started a week ago with a Riva kit and am well pleased with it and I used to smoke 15 - 20 small cigars a day. I'd recommend high nicotine (about 24mg) and definitely cartomisers rather than atomisers + cartridges - they are not very expensive so just add a few to any starter kit you decide on. I have found that the "hit" varies quite a lot with different juices of the same strength so I should try a few small bottles to see what you like. The other thing to watch is that the voltage of the Riva is higher (to start with) than the Ego, so will give more hit on an atomiser or standard resistance cartomiser. However, you can use low resistance cartomisers with the Ego (which you can't with the Riva) so that should compensate, but I haven't yet actually tried that.

Welcome #red, you've certainly come to the right place for a friendlier and more helpful bunch of folks cannot be found anywhere else on the interwebs. Most folks start with a kit, and spend a while messing around until they find their own sweet spot. I went for the Riva, and haven't been disappointed. I was worried about the LR issues, but chances are you won't 'need' LR with the Riva batteries as they have a bit more oomph than the Ego type. Clarification as to why can be found here. As regards it going off in my pocket - yet to happen The thing is never far from one hand or the other - even when in my jacket pocket

Just a quick update.
Firstly.. Thanks to all (again) and to Jason whom has patiently and graciously answered all my noodle brained questions and ably advised on the design of a suitable eGo kit...
Got all my vaping gear on Monday. Went for a LR set up with Kanger cartos as primary option. Got both 1000mAh & 750mAh batteries. The 750mAh for 'public displays of Vaping' (PDV's) as the total length of the e-cig is an inconspicuous 12cm (the 1000mAh being around 15cm). Very pleased with the overall performance of The eGo LR kit... Vapes like a trooper!
So.. I've embarked on all this mallarchy without much expectation but with an open mind. Like others here, I'd tried other NRT paraphernalia without success but thought that e-cigs might help me cut down my smoking, which would be an excellent result.
For me, smoking is mainly about routine and rituals, aged 31 and having been a smoker for 17 years I've developed many of them. Some to reward myself or to relax and some just to ease the passing of time. In addition to these, there are the obvious moments that every smoker and ex smoker will know all too well. It is during these moments that most most 'quitters' would relapse.
I've tried quitting twice and never made it until the end of the day. Quitting is bloody hard so I have placed absolutely no pressure upon myself to do so, allowing myself a cigarette any time I like. I have told nobody that I have bought an e-cig (except you lot) and as I mentioned, my only goal is to cut down a bit and see how it goes. I'm treating it like a fun experiment to see if anything more substantial might come of it... Myself being both test programmer and subject A.
Guten Tag! Zo, ere isht ze tesht reshults for subject A, ranging from ze Montag to ze Fritag.
Montag: Ze subject az assemble iz e-cig defice. E displays amazing mental dexterity, hant to ze eye co-ordination unt is alzo uber attractif in odd way.
(for the benefit of the reader I will stop the Einstein talk.. Beakers more my style anyway).
The shortened version is: by the time I'd tested out all atties, cartos and many flavours my throat was parched and lined with nicotine... I simply didn't feel like having a cigarette before bedtime.
Tuesday: First crucial test - the morning cuppa. Passed with ease. Urge satisfied by vape. Didn't feel like having a cigarette. Second crucial test - Post meal; again, passed with ease.
Mid test conclusions: 1 whole day without a cigarette. Subjects expectations far exceeded. He feels compelled to see just how long this can last.
Wednesday: Third crucial test - Major stress strop (finance related). Passed with ease. Urge satisfied by vape.
Mid test conclusions: Subject A feels elated and empowered whilst aided by the e-cig device.
This run outstanding experimental results has continued until this moment in time. However Subject A now faces the sternest test tonight when he joins his friends to consume alcoholic beverages.
Test results will be posted in due course.

Great to hear you are doing so well Red The alcohol test is indeed a stern one. For the first couple of weeks of vaping I carried on smoking when I was out drinking, it wasn't because I would rather smoke, more that I didn't want to stick out like a sore thumb. By the third week, I found the taste of the ciggies so disgusting I would look forward to getting home so that I could have a vape. Like Chrissie says, you've already achieved more than you perhaps expected so it's all good

Well I think you have done amazing :-) If you smoke tonight, dont worry, no big deal, on the other hand you could take your ecig, be proud and try and convert a few friends, or nip to the toilet and have a sly vape :-) Enjoy your night out :-)
