snow, I have this morning charged 2 x 1100 genuine joyetech spinners from totally flat. I set them at 4.2 ish, and plugged them into a wall socket ( genuine joyetech wall plug adapter etc ). I turned them on at 8.30am, at 11.20am they were still charging , at 11.35am they were done . So 3 hours. I know my 1300 spinner takes longer I believe 4 hours but I will check that also.

I charged up my Spinner on a genuine Kanger charger in a wall USB plug, set at 4.8v, this morning. It did charge in just over an hour, but I have no idea how much charge there was left in it, so as an empirical study this is a complete waste of words and time

My 1300mAh Spinner takes several hours to charge from flat using a 500mA wall charger. This seems about right, too - theoretically it should be just under 3 hours but of course batteries are never as perfect as theory, there are losses and ageing to account for. Also, a good charge-control circuit (like that inside the Spinner) charges on constant-current to start with, then constant-voltage towards the end. The result is extended charging time but much improved battery life in terms of number of charge cycles.
Very long charge times (like the 7 hours that the OP mentioned) could simply be due to poor chargers - some of those imported from China are embarrassingly simple inside and are not capable of charging at the rate that they claim on their label.
DiscoDes posted earlier with doubts about the hypothesis that setting the dial to 4.2V speeds up charging. His doubts are well-founded, as the setting only affects the discharge rate, not the charge rate. The dial tells the buck/boost circuit what output voltage to maintain, that's all.
In my experience, Spinners are excellent devices and I would definitely recommend them.
Cheers - JonoClouds

jonoclouds - so I presume I'm right in assuming from the OP's remarks and yours that a new charger might be the solution, rather than a new battery - sounds good to me

I'd get a good-quality charger and try it before writing off the Spinner. It is always worth having a good charger anyway, whatever the outcome is! Spinners are good batteries, I love mine. The 1300mAh ones last for many happy hours of vaping.
All the best - Jono

All for experimental purposes of course I got the dial as close to 4.2 as I could guage, no idea what that does and normally I don't so still no idea.

Cheers - JonoClouds Excellent post, thankyou, I now know I don't need to squint at it at daft oclock in the morning to get it set right before charging lol

Thank you jonoclouds for dispelling this rumour. When I first heard it I had my doubts, but no way to prove it. Common sense prevails, charging is seperate from the output

Think this is what i should do, as said the batteries last a good 12/15 hours of heavy vaping , so going to try a decent charger, and see how that goes, thanks everyone for you help.

zeldamum sells genuine Kanger chargers, and they seem to be quite quick!! Certainly a good price and a sturdy build quality, ans you would expect from Kanger.
