Well, as I am having a clear out, i got absolutely fed up with atty's in the kitchen, atty's by the computer and atty's by the arm chair so thought, why not get a stand. I looked on ebay for some basic ideas and inspired by Grandad and another member; turned my hand at making my own! I still have a few wayward atty's somewhere, i will find them tomorrow DISCLAIMER: This is a diy and it is absolutely imperfect and not finished...but i love it! all atty's in one place at last! Materials used: 1 b&q corner shelf £2.95, a 7mm drill bit and some sandpaper! Paint/varnish and more sandpaper to add to that tomorrow

Hey up Mrsmac, if you want an easy varnish option then car paint lacquer is perfect, dries in around 15-20 minutes and can be smoothed down and polished up like a car. One can would do loads of coats, just leave 15 minutes or more between coats. No brush marks either. Also you can use a bit of wood stain to add some colour first or depth of colour to the wood, let that dry, give it a light sand then lacquer.

We originally went into b&q to look for a scrap of wood to practice the drill sizes, then the hubby said, what about this? I initially didnt like it but after giving it some thought, said to myself, its just a tester! I really like it now...maybe because I made it

Loving it Mrsmac simple and effective, you are becoming a dab hand at most things now Next on your adventure maybe a box mod?
