Ten Eleven Thirteen! folks will be in receipt of rayon during the week (privatised mail services willing ufff), please post your wicking experiences here! In preparation hit the google train about wicking rayon, in particular don't thin wick it like cotton- if you do it will wee like a granny's chuff. (sorry grannys) You need to pack that coil full of rayon, then make it puff out either side like a shoulder, and when priming it drip drip one bit at a time, it don't initially drink juice like cotton does. Once the wick is fully juiced, vape on. If using a dripper, use about THREE TIMES the juice, seriiously.
Oh and you can re-use old coils, tho there are stories of rayon needing a fatter hole. Hur hur hur.
Havez funz! Dave

There's a post on the electronic_cigarette subreddit of some guy (it had to be a male) who made a wick out of
a tampon.
(They're rayon/cotton mix if you're really curious)

I just updated my post in the yarn thread on a rayon wick in a Kayfun with a coil that was not flamed or dry-burned link. davetherayon I will put further rayon posts on this thread, just finishing that on where it started and it was not just about rayon.

Ok time for a brain dump (finished lol) ... another brain dump about the 'how do I use this stuff'? Rayon's different to cotton in that in making it, it's extruded into very long threads. So it doesn't clump like cotton, and can be teased easily into lengths. Good news for making wicks. When wicking, look at your coil and figure out 3 to 5 (I go for the 5) times the outer width of the coil and peel off that much. Yes, peel it off. Rayon being in long threads, it peels like a compliant banana Then, take an end and just twist it gently. It will easily turn into a point. If you can see well, unlike me, thread it through the coil. Otherwise, take the wiggly end and turn it on itself and turn again to make a thicker bit, makes the initial threading a bit easier. As it goes in, PULL (gently) the non-threaded side to make it go in the coil as you draw it through. Ok, now you have one end of the wick threaded. Pull it through, ignoring the fluffy other end, until the coil JUST starts to move. A millimeter or two. This indicates that your coil is stuffed o'fluff, and is a Good Thing. With rayon you need to have zero space between the coil and the wick. If you're getting tension on the coil, but the end you threaded is still loose in the coil, you need to feed it a bit. Hold the threaded side, and gently grab and pull away a few strands from the other side. Rayon tears easily, and several strands should come away from the non-threaded side. Then, return to pulling it slowly from the threaded side. The wick will expand naturally on the threaded piece, the ideal is to have a full wick inside the coil and 'shoulders' or as I call them 'filters' on either side - i.e. the wick will expand either side of the coil. This shows that it's full inside the coil. Now, I usually put a bit of juice on the top of the coil, then on the sides of the wick. Rayon doesn't initially drink juice, so go a drop at a time, after a few it will start absorbing. Then cut off the wick ends, and finish your atty assembly. (I haven't tried a Kayfun build with wicks poking out the chimney top yet but... wooo another experiment ) If you're using a dripper, go mad on that thing with juice! ONE DROP AT A TIME though. Make sure the juice is literally visible above the surface of the rayon on either side of the wick; rayon's great at holding juice but poor at chanelling it, so if the sides of your coil and the middle aren't fully juiced up, you may just burn it if you throw 30W into that thing. Finally, assemble your atty and fill 'er up the normal way. Take a couple of primer puffs as normal to get juice flowing, and prepare to go WTF as you see the plumes and taste the flavours your juice has been storing all this time Toot toot! Dave

Love that video VapingBad, the circuit board cover on the atty freaked me out for a bit at first (having worked in electronics) till I realised it was connected to ... nowt Edit : all the avatars look like ronaldo now, is cloning THAT extensive
