My SVD shuttled off this mortal kanger coil today. I am looking to replace it ASAP as I have no backup, however I also don't want to rush into it and buy something unreliable again!
I've narrowed it down to the vamo or zmax, (I think!!!!!!!) and I am looking for a bit of advice as to the pros and cons of these devices, does anyone own both? I just don't know which one to go for!!!

The Vamo is notorious for 510 connector problems. There are fixes and workarounds - they aren't even that hard but. I have a V3 Vamo and the 510 appears to be made of the mystical Monkey Metal with all the strength of cheese. That said, it still gets used.
No knowledge of the amax.

mystical Monkey Metal with all the strength of cheese. That's a good analogy. I think its a brass mix but a poor one, Its similar to the VTR threads and stainless threads just chew them up over time. I tightened down a 510-510 stainless airflow on the vtr to stop this happening. You could do this on the vamo as well.
I have the SVD and im just waiting for the day the fire button packs up.

The Vamo works well enough, but build quality leaves a little to be desired... If I had to replace mine, I'd get a Zmax just for a change (actually have a Zmax Mini coming from slowtech) Vamo probably a bit easier to use with the 3 buttons vs 1 button on the Zmax. (If you want a Vamo in a hurry James at Vapenquit has 'em for £29, top bloke who knows his stuff - all my orders have arrived next day)

Anyone know much about the zmax? Got a zmax after killing a couple of vamos. Very solid mod, not missed a beat - but nothing sits flush on top. Single button menu takes a bit of playing with. Would have another zmax but not a vamo. Use a zmax all day for work, not the best looking but works a treat.

Anyone know much about the zmax? Yup I got 3 TZmax that is (telescopic) Pros: Made from stainless steel Good menu System Takes all sizes of 18XXX type batteries Not fussed about nipples (snigger) no extra tubes to carry One button easy menu system Good control circuitry (batteries last longer in TZmax than in my Provari! VV or VW Resistance readout Good quality Ego/510 connector, not a monkey in sight! Removable top ring Straight sided top ring available Centre Pin is robust Smaller than a Vamo, is neat in 18350 mode Just works. Only £25 from Fasttech Cons Not a smooth tube when using anything bigger than a 18350, does not bother me but some don't like it. lairey Anything you'd like to add?

I have (a few) of both vom and the Zmax wins hands down. Far superior build quality and as it's telescopic, you can use 18500's which you can't with the Vamo. In anything other than 18350 mode you do have a narrower section in the middle when you extend it. If that's likely to bother you, then go for a Vamo, otherwise Zmax is much better. I am forever turning the watts up and down by mistake on the vamo because of the buttons, can't do that with the Zmax

Thanks everyone, just seen the group buy on focal.......so it's tempting to get a zmax from a uk supplier, as I'm without any devices since svd gave up the ghost, (gave old equipment to a mate!). Then order vamo from focal, sorted. Anyone recommend a uk supplier for Zmax please?

Vape Escape sell them body only, but I think they are the V3 with fixed top cap (you want removable top cap, fixed are a bugger to clean). Myepack sell the V5 as a kit. Not seen anywhere else, but all of mine have come from classies or FT. And CaptainChaos... asking for permission? Of course you can
