I got told by diabetic nurse i couldn't have chocolate anymore H&B sell a few sugar free chocolate bars Sue, they're quite nice actually . . . plus a range of sugar free sweets by Sula, my favourite ( big surprise ) is the Caramel flavour . . . it's like a Werther's. * Polygees to River for the hi-jack. * I still eat chocolate, just for a treat like. Thorntons sell diabetic chocolate too.

Glad your ok River I've not been on much either since being diagnosed with diabetes i'm trying & failing miserably to get it under control struggling with what i can & cannot eat & tbh its depressing doc putting me on meds next week so fingers crossed I was diagnosed type 2 a few years ago now, and was told everything and nothing at the same time. I found that this book "The first year - Type 2 Diabetes A Patient-Expert guide for the newly diagnosed" by Gretchen Becker is possibly the best read you can get at the moment - if you're type 2 of course. Find it on Amazon here: www.amazon.co.uk/Type-Diabetes-Essential-Diagnosed-Patient-expert/dp/1841198048/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322164961&sr=8-1I'll tell you more about mine if you'd like, but not here by hijacking anyone's thread. Diabetes isn't nice, and I truly feel for you and all other Diabetics. Sorry for the hijack.

I cant have chocolate, cheese or coffee,if i do i pay the consequences. My 82 yr old Mum is diabetic, she used to have 4 heaped spoons of sugar in her tea but she has managed the change over quite well. She has a treat(we find mars bars hidden all over the place),if it makes her bad then she pays the consequences, well i do,lol. She doesnt drink or smoke,if she wants to risk having a "do" then its up to her,i cant preach to anyone being a smoker,If you cut all treats out you will crave them more, hence dieters failing.A little bit of what you fancy does you good. NNN xx

Tell you what's nice to replace cheese on toast... Method: roast heads of garlic in foil until soft, pop out the sludge and use as a spread, maybe a little Maldon and fresh pepper, lovely! I'm definitely going that way (diabetic) cos I get such awful hypos and fainty-sweats but it's confusing with my other "conditions" Hope the meds will make a big difference {{{Sue}}} and glad that you'll have some sweeties to turn to Oh! and I do miss you (((River))) and hope your move goes smoothly and you'll get rich quick

I'm sure River won't mind the hi-jack . . . after all, he does it enough to everyone else. Poetic justice you might say.
