Just ordered a fatdaddyvapes 510 connector, as the one supplied with the FT box is crap as hell (why didn't I realise that earlier).

I got by box yesterday at about 1 PM nearly finished the build and snapped the screen, so got to wait on a replacement. Sorry to read about the screen, you must be gutted. I've the bitz on order to build a similar mod myself with a genuine DNA 30 chip, the only thing that worries me is the fragility of the screen and its attachment to the board, I've read a a few times of people having problems with this. Are you getting a replacement screen or th whole assy?

Just the screen £11.29 delivered, I glued the ribon cable to the board before I started, but it was the screen I snapped trying to push it into the indentation and just didn't expect it to be that weak. The indentation for the screen is not what I expected, I hopped that if you aligned the non cable end of the screen with the indentation it would be lined up, but no it needs adjusting 1-2 mm. I may install the screen before soldering it to the board and will stick something to the back of the screen to reinforce it when I get it.

Varitube is more or less the same, but a bit lower profile, if I had know you were going to do that we could have shared the cost of an M10 x 0.5 Tap. I have press fitted the supplied connector which seems OK to me and put some sugru round the bottom to help the seal (I don't think it needed it, and the board is water proofed), it's easy enough to change the pin if I decide I don't like it.

M10 x 0.5? I just ordered a M10 x 1, based on the drawings on the varitube site, I guess it only matters if you're actually looking to thread the connector into the case rather than slide it in and let the locking nut hold it. Regarding the LED, I've epoxied a piece of lexan over the LED slot in the case, planning on just taping the OLED on top of that.

With the OLED you just need to power the board b4 you glue to ensure its lined up, I have used the 3M double-sideed tape that smart-phones are held together with before.

Well, I ordered a tap wrench and what looked like a M10 tap from Amawrong, the latter arrived today, and is a tap wrench. Checking the Amazon order page the picture is indeed of a tap, but the item on sale is a tap wrench. As it's been opened I will shortly be the proud owner of two tap wrenches, and no tap. Winrar.

Dam Royal Fail, screen ordered Saturday, posted 1st class Monday, but doesn't arrive until 14:30 Wednesday. DNA finished and working great, I did stick the screen in first and soldered it to the board after. No hot glue in sight

That is neat as hell. I fear my finished article (still waiting on the thread gauges to arrive so I don't get the wrong size of bolt, and the fatdaddy 510 connector) will look more like a proverbial box of frogs Though I have overdone the power protection. Got a pair of 6A fuses wired on a bit of veroboard, and also using a collapsible coil I bought with the Atmizoo. It's gonna be a bit busy in there.

You don't have my eyesight VapingBad Best investment I made in years (well, since discovering coiling, never mind modding) has been a cheapo headset mounted set of binoculars from godknowswhere. They had a LED light too, but that's been gone for yonks.

Also (totally offbeam) the second car I had was a MkIV Escort. God I wish everyone who bought a car in their 20s could have had one like it. You could reach in both sides of the engine and fart around with components without jacking it up. My personal record with that was replacing the starter motor 3 times (I was incompetent!), got so used to doing it I could replace it under the car without jacking it up. Happy days. The same car btw, I used to take along to a guy in Beeston (town near Nottingham) who was a farrier origninally. Seriously, he got into car maint from shoeing horses. Had a little place where he did tacks 'n fixes on metal. That guy saved me a bomb tacking bits of metal onto the car to take it through the MOT Then, (to continue this totally true diatribe) I was driving back from town one Sunday, on the way home, and got rammed into the back of the car. By a trip of Italian tourists who didn't realise where the hill stopped. Wrote my little gem off

Mine's not great davetherayon, I have to take my reading glasses and get really close off for the fiddly bits. Lost all my tweezers at VapeFest and replacements coming from SnailTech.
