I mixed up some FlavourWest Salted Caramel last night, had a taster this morning and WOW its got some strength, even without steeping, mixed at 20% so I will lower it a little next batch BUT... although the flavour is good it doesn't have the salty aftertaste of HerbalTides premix, so does anyone have any ideas on how to add a salty aftertaste without increasing this mix ratio?

The one thing I know you can't do is add salt. Although it dissolves in the liquid it re-crystallizes on the wick as soon as you try to vape it

Maybe the salty taste develops with steeping?

Maybe the salty taste develops with steeping? I was about to suggest the very same thing Mark . . . I'd leave it for a week at least before you start tinkering with it Q, as the full flavour has had no time to develop yet. Then if you still think it's not salty enough, then perhaps a few drops of TPA Sour might increase that element. But I would leave well alone for now, it's the way to ruin a very nice mix, by adding more flavour/additives before it's had time to properly infuse.

Thank you Perpetua & MarkS I didn't think the flavour would change, just intensify with steeping but already I can taste a difference, I'm getting a slight taste (like you get after eating a bag on ready salted crisps) on my lips which is the effect I'm looking for (and thats after only 20 hours steeping). I shall let it brew for a week or so but I'm already thinking that a touch of vanilla or vanillin might smooth out the rough edges

Sounds like you're getting it sussed now Q but thought I would chip in with this. There's a few threads on other forums where people are using saline solution in their juice. No idea if this is a good idea or not since it obviously contains a small amount of salt which would be contrary to the advise from OneDay...? Interesting idea though

If it was the 'proper' saline solution then I would bet against it crystalizing but is it possible to get such stuff away from the medical profession?? off to Google I go

Basically it's 9g - about one and a half teaspoons - of salt dissolved in a litre of pure water. It doesn't even taste particularly salty

So what stops THAT from crystalizing?

Well, at storage temperature (or body temp, for that matter) 0.9% salt is way below being a saturated solution. Mind you, if you vape it at x hundred degrees then the water content will vapourise, (sp?) leaving a few salt crystals on your coil.
