Buy a Now TV box for £9.99 and you can watch iplayer(when its working again), itv player, 4od, demand 5, vimeo, youtube etc, its cheap and works really well with no subscription or anything.
Its true people don't really talk any more unless its in a text or over the phone but I think that's the era we live in now, everything has gone digital.
Pretty soon we won't communicate in person at all and never need to leave our homes, we'll all appear in our workplace and friends/family homes as holograms.

igual - I have various autistic spectrum pupils that I teach piano/keyboard to. They are all very talented at music, albeit in their own special way, yet they really struggle with the academic side of things. Music is some sort of release for them, and to watch their faces while they improvise is a joy and a pleasure. I have one girl in particular who performs for me every lesson, and whilst she can't play the exact notes, she plays the textures, pitches and rhythms exactly. She is currently really into Matilda, Harry Potter and Disney. She know the names of all the composers, and can narrate the story whilst playing the keyboard - exquisite to listen to! Never underestimate autistic children - they continually surprise and delight me! Sorry for hijacking this thread, Raffles!

+1 for the now tv box. I have one very easy to install plug and play the main on demand channels are free. I buy an entertainment pass £4.99 lasts a month and no contract. With this there are loads of catch up and live channels also a lot of complete series. It enabled me to cut my virgin media monthly bill from £65 a month to £30 and I'm never stuck for something to watch. I also side loaded roku so any films and shows I have on my PC which is in the bedroom can be streamed to my living room tv. This was free and took around 5 mins to do.

I love my Sky box with the free 'on demand' box. Not much for watching daytime TV, but I watch and record programmes from 9pm on Fox, Sky 1, Movie mix and More4, not forgetting channel 5 BB. Can't wait for all the big Drama's to come in the autumn BBC and ITV.

Raffles. I am lucky in somuch as I exchange texts with my family but i also see them and telephone each other for a natter and a catch up of the weeks happenings. It is so sad when people don't communicate properly with their families, they miss out on so much ,the laughter the tears, the physical touch and great big smiles when they see you, priceless!

Sorry re saying about the mental age issue as in the past on other forums when I have bought autism up it has been easier to describe skye ( my little gremlin) that way to get a point across as you'd be surprised how many people deny autism even exists . You are totally correct in the way skye is very advanced in some areas particially technology (that is her thing). She loves music and one of her favourites is the 1812 ovature. She also loves james arthur , Nickle back and stomp. She also likes one direction but we don't talk about that ( washes keyboard after typing their name) . Every day she amazes me in some way. When she was born at 25 weeks we were told she had a 4% chance of survival, it has been a constant battle to get her to where she is today and without the incredible school she is at and the amazing teachers she has I honestly don't think we would have coped. We have challenges everyday with her however together we overcome them somehow and she is stronger for that.

igual... total respect to you and your family. You put everything into perspective. May you be constantly amazed at what your 'little girl' achieves over the years ahead.

If anyone has Amazon prime you get their TV thingy as well but tbh I wouldn't pay just for the TV for an extra 20 quid ish you get free Amazon next day . I would rate Netflix over Amazon TV any day though.

Satellite TV and 24 hr broadcasting ended conversation when I was growing up. Before that there was beggar all on unless you wanted to watch Shane for the 387th time, or loved torturing yourself with ceefax (oh that horrible music) Thanks a bloody lot you sod for reminding me of that ceefax music I thought I had buried that and now its back in my head
