Got bought a mint condition (factory new) 48k Spectrum complete with power supply, original starter cassette and manual and hard case for my birthday last year. Had it out a few times (it is very very precious !!!) Gail managed to get me some games to go with it and I of course being the deviant I am, went upstairs, downloaded a few tzx files, converted them to mp3, stuck on ipod and then back downstairs and plugged Ipod to speccy and off i went. Bloody fantastic. I should mention I had a spectrum when I was about 8 years old and the processor fried a couple of times and once mum and dad got pissed off with sending it away for repair in Inverness it hit the bin. I got a loan of a commodore vic20 after it died and then an atari 2600 for xmas. Since then i have had a original Game boy (sent from the usa when they first hit the shelves, I must have been one of the first in Scotland to get one), then a Sega Game gear (from the same mum's pen pal in the states) I still have the gameboy (no games ) and I think my dad sold my GG when I went to sea (merchant navy) THAT PISSED ME OFF no end !!! He wasn't right mentaly though RIP Daddy. I Also had an Apricot Green screen computer and a Sega master system whilst in school (we boarded over all week due to not enough ferries to get home and I was allowed to have the (pc if you could call it that) in my room), Master system at home though. Then I got given a playstation 1 in about 2001 and gave it away last year. Most i played recently was angry birds on the HUDL when i got it. Novelty soon wore off. I'm just not a gamer. (well not these new ones) I love my specy though and old retro stuff. Wish I had some gameboy games and would love an old sega saturn or something of that vintage. Ruffie. I have some Game Boy games, I often have a play with Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros and Warrior Land. I have Game Boy colour Game Boy Advance and the original Game Boy on which I play original tetris.

I've played games since the Amstrad CPC 464 (colour monitor ) Owned NES, SNES, N64, Wii, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS2, PS3 and now play mostly on PC. Still have the Xbox 360, Wii and PS3. My consoles are redundant, i've lost my gaming spirit lately though in the last year or so and don't really play them now since getting my MSI Radeon R9 280X for the PC , which was bought for Titanfall and BF4! Sadly I only played the BF4 campaign, but Titanfall was great fun, but I got a little bored of it.

I preferred pc games but don't play them now as I had to replace my pc and it has on board graphics so I only really use it now for the internet

I've never been able to get into shooters - not since goldeneye on the n64. Racing games have always been my favourite, although my wheel and pedals don't come out very often these days, mainly because I have a wooden floor and the pedals slide around like crazy. Very frustrating when playing GT6...
I gave up trying to keep my PC up to date some time ago, as I'm mainly on my iPad these days. We recently bought a new laptop and I made sure it had a half decent graphics card, but obviously it's not going to be a monster gaming machine - it's supposed to be for "working from home". My last PC game love was Trackmania, I played that to death and used to play in competitive team races. It had such a high skill cap, there was so much to learn for a game that could basically be played with the arrow keys!
The wii still gets used from time to time - mrs ionian is a monster at mariokart - but so few games get me excited these days.

Awwwww not fair !!!!! I actually completed super mario bros "original gameboy version" I was so exited to actually complete a game. In fact i think it is the only game I ever completed 100%. I was about 12 i think. lol ahhh good times. My favorite was "Fortress of Fear" and the music was great. Any games you don't want, please fire up north to me. lol Ruffie

I have always fancied a Wii tbh. I think even Gail might have a go on one. She doesn't do any computer games at all.
Did anyone have a good selection of the little hand held games you used to get in newsagents and corner shops. How bad do they look now. I remember my friend had Donky Kong dual screen one and I thought it was ultimately the dogs nuts at the time.
Good thread, good memories. and sad ones. RIP 1st speccy.
