if you're having trouble with flat-top batteries in a vamo, just carefully stretch the end-cap spring a bit, that's all that's needed

The plastic on the battery puts it just out of reach. Ruffie.

As we know shinyitis is a slippery slope with sub-ohm coils/drippers and mech-mods at the bottom of it... so why not future-proof your batteries.... especially if the more capable (if very slightly smaller capacity) batts are cheaper!? Actually that's v good advice. I'm currently dabbling with mechs and low ohms, somewhere I swore i'd never go. If I'd bought the right batteries when I started vaping I wouldn't need to be buying more right now. Even if you never go there better to be prepared. Nothing wrong with overkill. I also started with a vamo and some red efests, but have been sub-ohm'ing with a dripper and a mech for a few weeks now, so I had to get some VTC5's, I wish someone had told me it was a false economy to try and save on batteries, but you live and learn! @ ruffdog, the insulator around the battery +ve pin in my vamo looks like it could easily be pushed up a bit. I haven't tried it, and not all vamo's are the same, but it might be worth a try. Otherwise I think you will need a battery magnet. Cheers all

Ruffie. odd sure the top of your flat-tops aren't slightly dinted? if using magnets, put them on the -ive end of battery (or under the spring), then if they move they won't short the +ive of the battery to the (earth) casing

I think Perpetua knows what she is talking about. You don't actually need IMR batteries for regulated devices such as Vamos as they have inbuilt protection. I have also used a few NCR18650B's in such devices, both protected and unprotected batteries. As the Vamo has the protection built in, it is fine to use these, and the extra mAh is a welcome bonus. Wouldn't go as far to say that xs2man, but thank you - and you're right you don't actually need a protected battery in many of the devices that already have inbuilt protection. Although I use AW's, Efests & Panasonics in anything that I have, as they're what I've built a few of up. Panasoncis more recently because of the run time. If anyone is having spring issues with their Vamo, I've swapped all of mine out for these . . . . www.ivapour-elixir.co.uk/silver-bullet-hot-spring.html

They gave one of those protective plastic cases for free when I got my vtc5's from them. Trouble was they didn't put the batteries in the case when they posted them they were loose in the bag with the case put in there as well. Never mind they were ok, no harm done.

thanks for the responses all. Gonna try some of the panasonics from torchy. Stickng to 18650 because /i want to use same batteries for the vamo as I plan to use for a portable soldering iron I've almost finished building.

I could get a full cw transceiver in that. Not mine but linked also. www.qsl.net/wy3a/RockMite.htmI did make a keyer and stuck it inside a tictac tub though. Ruffie.
