If you get a call from 01216380650 do not answer,they have just phoned my dad who is vulnerable and he gave them more info than he should have,they were asking about his pensions and offering a supposedly free review service and they managed to talk him into a home visit tomorrow to discuss it.I phoned them back and they answered with the name Shaw financial services,i asked them to repeat the company name and who i was speaking to and they changed the subject several times asking if i have a pension,eventually they gave me the same company name again and i said i wanted to cancel an appointment that has wrongly been made,i gave them my fathers name and they put the phone down.I rung back several times but they would not answer so i left it a while and tried again,another person answered and the threats and abuse i got were criminal.I am now having to sit in with my dad tomorrow in case they visit.Who do i report them to.

I have not made or taken a call on my landline for nearly 10 years, plus have switched off the automatic BT answer machine do da. Anyone I care about has my mobile, and I won't even answer that if I don't recognise the number. If they really do want to sell me something they can put their offer in the post and I'll consider it. That's a good link tomj777 put up, and one I have used is... whocallsme.com/It's fascinating to read some of the stories and scams people use.

Have any of you had the "I work for Microsoft and your computer is throwing up lots of virus messages".
That's another one to be careful of - they try to get you to give them remote access to your computer and then it's *BOOF* goodbye bank account.
I had that call once & wasted their time for over 30 minutes hahahahaha

TPS is useless and these scammers know , Prosecution numbers from TPS are very low, as you father is vulnerable you might want to check if the local council offer to provide a trucall box approx. £99 or you can purchased them directly from Truecall was on Dragons den a few years ago www.truecall.co.uk/home.aspxwith Truecall you can choose what level of calls you want to receive you can set up good numbers and everyone else is a bad number and the phone doesn't ring, you can monitor calls via an internet portal you can block all international calls and if you do want some international calls created a numeric password which the caller has to enter before you father phone rings

I was getting plagued for a while with international unknown number calls so I ended up getting a call blocker. Went from an average of 18 spam calls a week to 3.

They used to get really unpleasant after I'd kept them waiting for ages.
(Indian accent)
"My computer takes ages to go on the internet"
<continue watching DVD>
"Have you clicked the button to allow us access?"
"Yes"
"What does it say?"
"It says ... oh hang on, my computer has crashed, I've got to start it again. Won't be long"
<10 minutes>
"right ok - I've pressed the 'allow access' button now"
"What does it say?" (because I wasn't even on the computer)
"It says 'Try someone else who might fall for your scam'"
"F*** F***ING B***** W*** F**** S*****!"
"bye then"
Tease-smiley

Meanwhile back in the 1990s... *ring ring* "Hello?" "Hello sir, I'm from yet-another-double-glazing-firm and we've got this offer on double glazing, do you have a minute?" "Sure, let me get the wife, she handles these things" "Thank you sir!" (puts down receiver) (goes back to playing Amiga games) 30 minutes later... "Oh he hung up"
