Hi all, I didn't want to hijack somebody else's but I saw Greg mention something that has me a bit puzzled. Bare in mind it's late I'm probably not wearing my thinking cap so in idiot terms would be good, very good. I build my own coils quite comfortably, singles with cotton. Usually around a jewellers screwdriver 8 wraps gives me 1.5 ohms. Perfect for me in an aerotank. Now I saw mentioned that lower resistance will deplete batteries quicker. I don't get that. My thinking would be if the resistance was lower, doesn't that mean the battery doesn't have to work as hard to heat the coil in turn extending battery charge life ? Idiot terms please. Jay

As resistance decreases, the current drawn from the battery increases.
I=V/R
OR
you can think of power.
Power increases with lower resistance
P=V2/R
So decreased resistance drains battery faster

Think of holes in a bucket of water. A small hole resists the flow of water more, so bucket stays full longer. A larger hole offers less resistance to the water so it pours out quicker. Simples

So as the resistance decreases its easier for the power to go through from the battery in turn draining it easier or quicker
So just for arguments sake lets say myself using 1.5ohm coils and somebody using a 2.5 ohm coil. Would the 2.5ohm coil be very noticeably better for battery life ?

Jay If you used the same volts for both, yes, the 2.5 would be much better. If you used the same watts, it would be the same, give or take different battery efficiency at different power levels.

Let's put it another way...if you never connected the pos and neg end of a battery together it would Last forever... If you directly connected the two ends together (ie a short) it would empty almost instantly AND extremely hot. So from that, the higher the resistance the longer the battery will last

Thanks for asking that question Jay, one I have often wondered about. Now I know why my batts need recharging so often, I usually use 1.50hms on my clearo's.

Sure if you want to vape at 20 watts Although if you are asking the question, the chances are you are using a stock clearomiser, and there is no way one of those will wick the liquid fast enough in enough volume to support 20 watts.

Also depends on what device you use as vv/vw mods have an Amp limit, or a maximum power limit that will mean you will only get out of it what it will allow. So putting a 1.5 ohm coil in a 6v/15w mod and using it in voltage mode, wont allow you to get 24W by turning it up to 6v.

Maybe I answered the question too simplistically and should have asked what device are you using given the limited posts of the questioner I'm feeling a little impulsive today

What about for the battery is 1300mah/1600mah
