Had the same thing earlier with the first coil I've ever tried to rebuild on an aerotank. Turned out I'd put too much cotton in it and it wasn't wicking right. Took it out and started again and it's spot on.

Might be new kanthal taste? Could be sweat or whatever was on your hands when building. Did you make sure wick was wet before it's first fire? What are you using? Dripper , rba? Cotton does have a fluffy kinda taste the first few puffs IMO, but goes away soon. The wire can taste a bit funny and you may find it is better once the coil has accumulated a bit of gunk tbh. Bedding in they call it.
Ruffie.
PS look at me giving advise an everything. Woo hoo I must be super ruff now. Lol

Haha its a mini pro tank dropped my aero tank today and smashed the glass hence going back to this.
The coil is about 2-3 mm wide so probs put to much cotton in.
Is cotton better then the silica you can get ??

There isn't a better, it's personal taste. I prefer cotton, others prefer silica. Only way to find out is to try both

^ all good tips ^ I pull my kanthal through a rag with some IPA on it a few times just before winding the coil, you will be surprised what comes off. If its old or rough I run it through a bit of folded wet'n'dry a few times first to resurface it.

Think they were just over a quid for 50 but they're tiny. The holes just over a mm and they're about 2 or 3 mm wide. Took ages getting the cotton through with my eyesight
