The fact is you stick it in your mouth and inhale only because you used to smoke, therefore it's an alternative - strewth I'm sure there's some smokers about who see themselves as connoisseurs and like to try lots of different tobaccos, abit like vaping really. Not sure I've seen a smoking forum though although to be far I've never tried to find one.

Smoking is buying cigs, sparking one up, and smoking it. Vaping is a hobby. Nearest analogues come to it is pipe smokers, with the ritual of cleaning a pipe, and lighting it. But very much less a hobby. Vaping isn't a hobby for everyone though, some just ego and that's it which is fine but I can't see how it can't be an alternative to smoking. you choice to smoke or vape or some do both. How one isn't an alternative for the other goes over my head To say its it's a means to an end is fine but it's still an alternative to smoking Yes, very true. When I said it's a means to an end for me, I simply meant it's a quit smoking aid - something temporary in other words, rather than a new, permanent hobby.

It does upset me sometimes when I see the Shop Keeper round the corner, his daughter and others that have just got a CLIK Ego 350 / 650 and CE4's and one juice. The lady was telling me the other day she had fallen off the wagon and gone back to fags a few days prior as she wasn't getting the "satisfaction" from her e-cig. She says she buys new clearos all the time (CE4's) "WHICH I AM STILL WAITING ON TO REFURB AS THEY DON'T SEEM TO WANT TO DRY BURN AND CLEAN THEM, i have explained and offered to demonstrate!" "John, her dad (owner) told me the other day I could have all his old ones but never remembers to drop them in the shop" BUT. She is on 24mg Juice and been on the same CLIK generic juice for months now from the petrol station. No wonder she is and her body is sick of the damn stuff. I mean let's face it. CE4's aren't the greatest delivery system by a long shot BUT trying to suggest a Iclear16 or mini protank and new juice (which i have offered to mix for them) falls on deaf ears with them all. I have been in many times with my gear and I think they look at me as a long haired hippy eccentric fool with my big devices, fancy tanks and rainbow colored juices !!!!
Sorry, Just had to get that off my chest.
Ruffie.

When I started on e-cigs it was about the nicotine For me this is the main component. If I can't get the nic from e-cigs I'll get it elsewhere (fleabay anyone?)....it's gotta be better than the stinkies why NRT failed me and why vaping saved me3 years ago no pharmacist was going to offer me NRT at the nic levels I needed. 20 hours later (or less) on the strongest nic they offered I'd be psychotic and at risk. Also NRT is only at a reasonable price for 3 months on the NHS - with a 6 month gap in between. It's all about the 'evil nic' - completely wrong mindset. I didn't know then (I know now) that nic helps my meds I take for my long term disability to work. Too low a nic - again psychosis. Equally too fast a withdrawal or no nic and you're facing a very hefty hospital bill (Praise God for the NHS ). On cigs (roll ups)I was getting a chest infection every 3 months and had gastritis. Not brilliant for anyone. I stank of the stupid horrid things. My clothes were rank and I stank!!!! Simples - NowI wear perfume. My teeth are white. I am healthier and happier

I agree about the different flavours .... in recent years I smoked Old Holborn rollies exclusively If I may ask, what flavour are you vaping now? Is it similar to Old Holborn?

gregb Avatar 9 hours ago gregb said: I'd say it's definitely an alternative to smoking, or rather a replacement. I'm confident if I hadn't started vaping I'd still be smoking We might vape lots of flavours which differs to when we smoked but then when caught short who hasn't cadged an unfamiliar tab of a friend just to get that fix. Err me not even touched a cig since the weekend I tried my first e-cig

I wrote this topic a bit tongue in cheek. It was more to do with the amount of vape flavours that take my fancy these days, compared to the one tobacco flavour that I stuck to through 49 years of smoking. I do vape purely for the nicotine (24mg) and the different flavours are just a bonus. The fact that like others, I no longer need to count the number of fags I have and then worry about if I have enough for the morning, because I have enough e-juice spare to float a boat if I had one, is another bonus. But what I am basically saying is that Vaping is so much more than smoking ever was. It is more than just an alternative. Oh yes, for the nicotine, it is a better way of getting that, but who would ever think of joining a forum and studying different delivery systems, read about recipes or develop new ways of doing things, if all I needed to do was light a fag? Never mind my house improvements or my lifestyle improvements, just a casual look around my study desk or in my freezer would tell you that, for me, Vaping is way more than just a way of getting my nicotine fix. i was thinking along those lines earlier i mean who would ever have gone to smokefest

I am healthier and happier how long did it take for the gastritis to fully go if it has fully gone, i' suffer with that, although since i started vaping only had one bad attack which i'm going through at the moment, it's on the way out but it's lasted 5 days a lot shorter as well used to last two weeks and would get it at least every 6.
