Hi all after using my hardware for a while, I have narrowed down want I want...this week So my regular atties being aerotanks, protank 2, kayfun clones between 1.6-2ohms. What do you think would be best for my set up from the following: 1. Dicodes Dani in medium basic version with possibly the extension cap to allow for 18650 batts 2. Provari 3, waited for ever to see a new version but must admit, I am put off by the looks of it and the length as well, not to mention that I assume it will come with a branded price tag to match! 3. Mech mod with kick - I know many members don't see the point...see below My main objectives are reliability, set and forget, small form factor! The Dani and mech mod would come in at a smaller size than my zmax in 18350 mode Anyone?

I've not tried the Dani or P3 (obviously!), but I like the look of both of them. However, they're not going to do anything that your zmax doesn't already do, and none of them will be as small as a mech with or without kick.
If reliability, small form factor and minimum of fuss are your main criteria, have you considered a mech without a kick in 18350 or 18500? Build your coils slightly lower, say around 1.3 - 1.4 ohms and you will have great performance throughout the life of the battery. You will learn quickly how long you can go before changing battery - it's not as daunting as it sounds, if in doubt you can always change early - and it meets all of your criteria. I only suggest it as someone who used to use a kick in everything, but stopped using it some time ago and appreciate the reduced size and smooth vape of a pure mech.

Totally get where you are coming from ionian. I think the size of devices has always been a bug bear for me! Last night I set MrMac up in one of my kayfuns with the zmax and he absolutely loves it, so I may have to double up or go different. I have a small collection of electronic mods mainly zmax's in various forms and the best one is the one he has which was purchased in the uk, the others give a slightly juddery vape. Was just looking at the dani as in 18500 it is a mm or two shorter than the zmax in its shortest form and I am getting fed up with taking off my tanks and putting them on the itastes when going out after being let down by one the other day. Sorry for the essay. I have a nemesis here but am always tentative with using it. With so many precautions, I just don't know if I can manage it as a sole vape. Take for instance with an aerotank, coil can one minute be fine and then if the coil shorts the zmax won't fire, I am just a little apprehensive as to what would happen if using on a mech.

don't worry about the essay Mrsmac - I never use one word when ten will do I completely understand where you are coming from with regards to coils. I guess if you are only using RBAs, and so always making your own coils, you can be a little more confident that they are safe and secure - whereas if you are using Kanger coils, you take pot luck as to what you get. The dicodes looks great, but it's a lot of money for something that only goes to 15w. For the same money, have you considered a vapourshark DNA? It's a box mod, but it's tiny, will last longer than a 18350/18500 and seems to be very reliable and popular. Plus it goes all the way to 30w should you ever get into dripping and using lower ohms. Another option would be a second-hand Provari mini, get a good one and it will last a life time. The price is bound to come down as people upgrade to the P3...

i would say a mech and a kick, when i started with mechs i only used a kick for the saftey side of things, but when you get more confident with your coils and noticing when a battery needs changing you think why was i worried for,
and a new provari is going to cost £200+ and for me £200 for a device is way way to much,
but just to make things more tricky what about a vaporshark, small, pocket friendly and powerful, i would get from 9am till 9pm off one charge at 11-15watts with a 1.2 ohm single coil

Must admit, not too sure about box mods. I do like some of them but not really sure they are for me. I have an mvp but it doesn't get used as much as it should as it gives a juddery vape unlike the zmax which is smooth at the same wattage, atty etc.
MrMac has put me in a predicament!
That is what I was thinking Geordie that maybe I should just put all the research in to practice with the mech and I could get a kick here by tomorrow and give it a go...the purple nemmy is also calling my name in the classies and at least with the kick I could use that until confident

Why not get a cheap mech as a proof of concept and if you get on with it splash the cash on one you like more.

I've got an unused Zmax Mini here, if you fancy trying it out I can send it to you. If you like it, PP me some beer tokens, if not, send it back! it's about 10mm shorter than a Vamo in 18350 , and it's aluminium so it's light. Exactly as this Link but the top cap is flat, not tapered.

Hi Mrsmac i would deffo try the mech, i have recently moved over to a mech mod (without kick) Im running 2 kayfuns, 1 on a Stingray 18500, and the other on a GP PAPS 18350 both on 1.5ohm micro coils & cotton, and all i can say is wow, there really is no comparison, vapes like a dream, small and you really do notice when it's time to change the batteries and if like me you get worried change them anyways. Either way i think there is alot of mystique surrounding mech mods, they seem so much scarier then they really are, always check your ohms are right, look after your batteries, fill up your attie of choice and enjoy a wonderfull vape, and if in doubt check everything again. Enjoy whatever you decide

I guys, I have made some decisions, I think! If it's still the I'm going to get the nemi off classies...purple of course! I will also get a kick to begin with at least to test it out and the next kayfun i rebuild, I will drop the ohms to maybe 1.4 ish and try it without the kick as well and pick up a couple 18500 batts. Finally leo that was a very kind gesture, I already have one in purple but am thinking...what would you want for it as I could reclaim my zmax from the OH and he could have that was looking at ft but was out of budget for immediate purchase

gizmos are dam expensive though for a mech mod that you need to tweak yourself before you use it
