I have just seen a friends dripper which is set up using 2 micro coils, which I'd what I use, but the cotton wool he has used is not threaded through the coil. It is instead just more wrapped around it.
Is this an acceptable way to do it ad I was under the impression that the cotton wool, or rayon in my case, should be pulled through the coil? It seems to work ok......

Whatever works, there is no rule that says you must do a micro-coil.

Some people like to wrap cotton around the coil. It gives a greater surface area, but can limit air flow depending on the build and the dripper being used. In my veritas vertical coils, I pull cotton through, and lay a strip over the top of the coils. Skys the limit really, have a look at some builds on youtube. But as long as it works then your buddy is doing it right!

I will try mine without threading it through then as my sausage fingers are not designed for this, even with the correct toolkit!

IIRC ppl call those nano-coils when they are laid on the wick or visa versa or maybe a kind of chimney coil, what's in a name as long as it works , I didn't quit understand what your m8 did when I replied the 1st time

Sounds like a description of a dual coil dragon setup. Do a YouTube search. I've tried but don't seem to be able to wrap the cotton around the coil tube all that well. Usually seem to be a very small diameter coil as well, ie. too small to effectively thread cotton through would be a nano coil. I think.

Sounds like a dragon coil set up, you wrap the cotton around the coil and over one end and the vape comes out the other.
My preference is through the coil and onto the deck, leave under the coil clear and have the coil at the height so the air flow is hitting the lower half. Works a treat. I vape my drippers down around the 0.08ohm area and they're never hot, just lovely big lung fills of flavour.

Think mine are usually directly in line or pulling over the top. Loving the Orieco Storm-A great little thing. Ruffie

Ruffie Doing like enjay says and lining the airhole up so it is lower than the height of the coil has given me much better vapour production than having them centred. leave space underneath the coil so the air can flow through there as well.
