Hola,
So the point of this thread is to establish what the norm is for us vapers with regards to vaping in the home and more importantly around children, I did some Google searching prior to making the thread but there doesn't really seem to be a lot of recent opinion with regards to this subject, a lot of the information is from 2012 / 2013 so I thought a new thread in which people might have up to date information as to whether vaping around kids is either acceptable or not could be a good idea.
I have 2 kids, an 11 year old and a 3 year old, I have always vaped in the house, and I do vape around them, I don't produce massive clouds and I don't blow it in there direction, I also try not to vape while my 3 year old is looking at me (him staring at me wondering what I'm doing freaks me out a little) there is however a smell that's left lingering (custard, yum yum ) and this is what has led me to ask the above question, my wife is an ex smoker of 4 years and of course she worries for her children's health, she often comments that she can smell my vape, I of course say don't worry, quite often relay the information I have read about e-juice ingredients being harmless to secondary people and most of the nicotine has been absorbed by myself and the minuscule particles left in the air are of no harm to anybody, but alas I don't think she believes me.
So although I don't really get any grief from my other half other than the odd comment about smell, I am starting to think as to whether I should be vaping around my kids, is it an irresponsible thing to be doing ? I haven't ever really given it a second thought but I am super interested to see what the general consensus is from the awesome folks at AAEC.
My personal view is that no harm will ever come to kids because of my vaping, Its pretty well stated that second hand vape has little to no health implications for bystanders, I would personally worry more about car exhaust fumes whilst outside, or the long term health risks from fizzy drinks, crisps, chocolate and all junk food, I am though looking for any information that anybody may have that shows I am wrong.
So do you ?
Don't you ?
Am I going to hell ?

I voted for the 3rd option - we don't have kids - so yes I vape inside our house ( did not smoke indoors ) - but if we had friends with kids over I would not vape in our living room

I vape around my own child, he is coming up to 5 and always has lots of questions about it that i am happy to answer for him. He always wants to know what flavour i am vaping and he spots a new bit of kit i have a mile off. That said all my vape gear and liquids are in draws that are to high for him to reach so he cant fiddle about.
Other peoples children i will always ask before i vape.
Sent from me from some far away land.

My kids aren't small, but when visiting friends I don't vape around their children, NOT because of the vapour but because in my opinion the shiny vaping equipment is possibly enticing to them if I'm using it then stupid enough to leave my bag unattended and they go looking for it. I don't need to state what a tankful of pretty red juice could do. I vape somewhere they can't see me and then put my bag in a cupboard, I'm probably neurotic but so what.

It's one thing explaining e-cigs to adults. It's another thing when a group of kids keep asking questions and want to try it.
I avoid vaping round kids, mainly so I don't get pestered.

No kids here now, but I probably wouldn't vape in front of others children.

I vape indoors whoever is here. I don't vape in shops or enclosed spaces where children could be out of my home. I do vape in the open air but take a little care around children. I do vape in pubs as they are adult environments (where it's allowed). I try not to offend anyone with my vaping and treat each situation as it arises.

When our little one was born (10 weeks ago) I had a good conversation with mrs ionian (a non smoker) and we agreed that we were happy for me to vape in the same room as her. When the health visitor came found, I was open and honest with her about my vaping and she was comfortable that it wouldn't do any harm. So yes, I vape around my baby - a decision that we have taken together and in consultation with health professionals.
However, I don't vape around my niece and nephew (ages 3 and 5) because I know my sister doesn't want to have the myriad questions that they'll ask - it's a respect thing. Also, I don't vape in front of others children without permission, but then I don't vape in front of anyone else (even guests in my own house) without asking if they are ok with it.
When my little one gets older, we'll have a decision to make as to whether I change to vaping in another room, or hiding it completely. I'd rather not hide it - I want my daughter to be honest with me, and so I feel I have to be honest with her. I'm not worried about explaining it, and she'll know no different. I see vaping as a means to an end, and fully expect to stop one day (although I haven't set any time limits).
